This brother needs to look outside the contraints of arab v somali. Somali is older than arabic. Before the language of the somali people was even called "Somali" They spoke a language that was shared between the southern arabs and horn of africans. Somali and Arabic have the same origins but diverted.

Of course Somali is older 😂 Arabic was just yesterday. Most of the words in Arabic are Aramaic, Hebrew, Somali, Semitic etc..... Arabs only came about around 2 thousand years ago around the time of our Prophet Muhammed whereas the Ancient Egyptian, Hebrews, Cushitic Somali, Semitic Ethiopians/East Africans, babylonia, phoenicians. Sumer (mesopatamia) etc I can't remember the others thats why Allah gave Arabs some power & history in recent times because before Prophet Muhammad they had none and the reason the last book of God is in Arabic. The similarities between Somali and Arabic are the result of having the same root (Afro-asiatic). For example alphabes of the two languages are spoken similar except letter ‘’G’’ and they also have similar sounds although not the same order. A lot people therefore confuse Somali with Arabic especially when they hear it first time. Somalis can learn Arabic fairly very quicker than English or German. Somalis can easily pronounce Arabic word without accent. There are Arabic words that exist in Somali and both are used interchangeably in Somali.

The North had Arab gene flow from the Near East/Middle- East around Syria/Iran, and this is shown in genetic tests ad the T male haplogroup and Female M and N mtdna. These genes are more frequent in the North, so the North definitely has old Middle Eastern genes, which were anterior to Islam. Now, nothing says these genes were from Arab as it could have been Iranian or from other M-E, but due to the huge number of common words, it would make sense if these genes were Arab genes. The only other possibility would be that Somali has common roots with Semitic language without being Semitic. Or the two possibilities could explain the huge Arabic or Arabic sounding vocab in Somali

Somali language is ancient. Very close to afar and some oromo. Also it is connected to the ancient egyptian language. When they used to trade it is said they spoke with one language plus as we know Egyptians look much like cushites and east Africans. Only reason people think it is similar to arabic is because we can say arabic letters plus remember we traded with the arabs which inevitably makes people borrow a few words. Don't take Somalia out of Africa as the whites did to Egypt to make it feel more semitic to fulfill their own biblical stories. The arabic league has nothing to do with us. we are muslims and close to the middle east. That is it. economic gain and nothing at all.

Mohamed Ahmed I don’t think so bro, read the language structures and how they come to be. In Eastern Africa, numbers alone bring us close while takes us far away from Arabic. We have the same numbers as the rendille, afar, Oromo and many other Cushitic groups. Just bluntly saying we are closer to Arabic than our brothers here makes no sense. Trust me, when Arabs call us “you are like us”, they are just drawing a box within us which starts to separate us from our long history of blood of people who our forefathers lived and shared lives. Don’t ignore what we have, otherwise we will be used and disposed of like second class citizens. I think you are forgetting the essence of being Somali walaal. Somali is Somali. End of story.

@@hassanabdikarimmohamed2505 The term Afto-asiatic is disappointing because Japan is an asiatic language. People who speak a mix of Asiatic and African language can be called afro-asiatics, like Swahili and others because it is heavily incorporated with Asian languages like arabic language. Somalian language is unique and is not mix of two languages like Swahili. I am not talking about history of languages or a timeline of language formation as you mentioned. Think again

@@AliHassan-hb1bn you make no sense, swahili is a bantu language which only became heavily influenced by Arabic due to the 1000 year arab colonisation of the swahili coast, its not as if swahili originated as a mix of Arab and bantu African, it originated as a bantu language and centuries later, borrowed ,any semitic words As for afroasiatic Cushitic Somali (there is no such thing as somalian language, the language is Somali, the people are Somalis) the reason it is classified as afroasiatic is because the language itself originated from e1b1b y dna carrying Natufians in the levant who back migrated into africa, leading to the rise of Cushites and their Cushitic Afroasiatic languages like Somali, Afar, Medjay Beja, Oromo, Sidamo, Rendile, Iraqw etc: these natufian back migrations into africa also created the ancient Egyptians (and their coptic Egyptian, felahin tribe descendants), and Berbers and their amazigh languages So it is an accurate term, to describe Somali, hence why the linguistic experts agreed to use the term afroasiatic Amharic is a pidgin language, linguistic experts have proved amharic has a high cushitic agaw substratum, meaning its people used to be agaw who language shifted to semitic geez...unlike togray Tigrinya tigre which are pure direct descendants of geez and linguistic evidence shows this, amharic is a mixture of agaw, and some literally made up words sounds ...Read your own history which says amharic was crested a secret code language of the millitary, whereas other languages develop naturally over tens of thousands of years, amharic was crested from nothing in a few years for thr millitary to use and they obviously copied a lot from their pre existing agaw languages and mixed it with made up words, and borrowed geez words taken from the tigray Tigrinya tigre elites of Aksum

Arabs are assimilated people through the Islamic conquest same way the English forced everyone in UK to speak English. Arabia was multicultural before the conquest. Jahilia will always embarass themselves and the rest of humanity. Arabs are cousins and we are actually older than them. Just their language, population and wealth overlapped us because of Islam and all the years they have been assimilating so many other nations and races. There is no argument about the skin colour of Somalis. The Somalis are, as is evident to the naked eye, dark-coloured. Rather the argument is about their origin. Recently, with the advent of genetic tests, this question has been resolved. Somali genetics has been determined and found to be as follows. Y dna haplogroup is from father to son to male grandchildren unless there is disruption in the male line. 1- African y dna haplogroups: e1b1b (80% of Somali origin and with the highest frequency in the world) and e1b1a (3%). 2- Euroasian y dna haplogroups: T (15% (highest frequency in the world) and J (2%). With this the argument about Somali origin has finaly been resolved and should, therefore, be closed.

arabic is semitic somali is cushtic however i would say that somalis speak a form of colloqiul arabic, somali arabic. This has not been recognised perhaps due to unwillingness from somalis to be associated with arabic culture more than needed(islam), therefore giving the feeling that they are not losing their culture. Also the other quite obvious reason that the arabic somalis speak is not considered a dialect by the arab world is due to the obvious fact that somalis are not arabs.

Whereas before Arabic was a common language taught and Somalis have a stronger like to Arabia than Africa. Many in the previous generations knew Arabic and learnt it in Somalia/Somaliland/Djibouti etc. Also big Somali tribes have Arabic founders. Also Somali wasnt a written language so Arabic was used. Arabic is very important in Somali history and known to the Arabs. Somalis can easily be Arabs as being Arab is not a colour.
