absolutely love my vr1 visionary, at first i wasnt sure it would fully replace my index since we're currently locked to 90hz mode. but once i got used to it, there is no question, vr1 is all i want. warping profile F, eye relief at -20, very comfortable, great sweetspot, great fov, and depending on the game between 65 and 80% resolution i keep it pinned at 90fps... can't wait for the 120hz mode, surely will need to dial back some settings ingame and perhaps resolution to achieve stable 120fps but no doubt it'll be worth it.

Hi Steve, Love your videos. Waiting for delivery of my Somnium VR1 and want to order the Bobovr M2 but can only find the Bobovr M2 Pro. Will the Pro version fit my Somnium headset as I want to get the M2 now so I will have it when my new headset arrives. Thanks Bruce

Thanks Bruce, that really means a lot! I believe the one I'm using is the M2 Pro which fits the Quest 2 (not 3). Hope that helps.

I got one not too long ago, I found it absolute dog of a headset, Discord feels like cult and doesnt offer any real help; I went back to my Varjo and ocassionally Pimax. Spend your money elsewhere!

Tried it... and it is not really implemented in a way you could use it instead of the mouse. There is a guy manufacturing finger mounted mouse button, with that, it might be usable tough.

Just an FYI, AMD does not work currently, users have been sitting with paperweight headsets for awhile, and they dont even know if mixed reality will work at all. I don't know why they dont say this on the website, but plenty if disgruntled customers on the discord about it

But no problems buying a $2000 - $3000 RTX 5090 that will "attempt" to drive that Super? Remember you need a matched pair if you want a chance of having it perform well. At this price point, many people will spend more to get the actual widest FOV headset with a reasonable distortion profile.

The super will be a horrible product because they won't fix mura , vertical bending and other quality control issues like a bad build in dac, short thick cable and unoptimized distortion profile . I really really doubt they will fix all those issues so Somnium vr1 will remain king for PC VR

Is the title correct? Once Pimax get the issues identified at CES sorted and QC in check I was expecting the Super to be the VR1 killer. I mean its specs are on par or superior in almost every category but almost $1k more expensive.

The VR experience is defined by the optics and the VR1 has much better optics. The VR1 also has more features. The Super is an ~115H FOV actual headset. It has a much larger distortion profile than the VR1 already and their higher resolution lens will have an even larger distortion profile that you will likely need a 6090 to drive. My guess is that the Wide FOV lens will have an actual 125H but not be nearly as clear as the VR1. You are also looking at differences in execution and quality control.

Question is if Pimax can sort them out... Varjo launched XR4 like a half a year ago and they still have issues with those panels. And that is a 6000€ headset... Kinda expecting that there won't only be a lens lottery with super, but also a panel lottery and you would have to win both to get a usable device. Also... if I remember correctly, Spuer got even higher render resolution than XR4 so depending on what you run, you might not be able to get to a resolution that would beat VR1. From my experience with VR1, 4090 is not enough for a headset like that... 5090 might be. I have seen someone post a racing sim and QV games sould work, but in the most cases you might be back to 35PPD just to have enough FPS.

My problem with HMDs i9s my eyes are astigmatic. Right: S = +3.00, C = -2.00, A = 80. Left: S = +1.75, C = -2.25, A = 92. Buying a headset is a risk, because I need a pair of single vision specs for the headset. HP Reverb G2, the picture is sharp as a pin. Vive Pro 2, the image was a little off focus. I went to the opticians and had a chat and another eye test. The optician suggested some adjustments to my prescriptions and he was bang on. The Vive Pro 2 is bang on. Spending more money on a premium cost HMD means a 'fingers crossed' hope my prescriptions will be correct, or another round with the optician?

The displays are just the starting point. Without the right optics you are throwing away resolution, sharpness, FOV and nits. What the VR1 showed was how much performance Pimax wasted. Keep in mind that anyone can buy a display. Designing optics is where all the effort goes.

The interesting thing is that I know a number of people who purchased one. So far the reports back are very positive. The bottom line is that PC VR is out of the reach of most people. That's why the stand alone $500 Quest 3 is selling so well. Anyone who has purchased a 4090 or is planning to purchase a 5090 has already spent ~$2,000 on a GPU and is planning to spend another $2,000-$3,000 on a GPU and they just got that 4090 about 2 years ago. And if you are already buying something that expensive every 2 years, then you are the audience for a VR1.

Honestly tired of all these ultra high specs. I play FPS games in VR and it makes no sense how the only good headset is the valve index and qeuest 3. I have a big screen beyond and pimax crystal light....and they just sit in a closet now... Give me a 2500x2500 res with pancakes. No fresnel no asheric.... I want a smooth performance and nothing comes close to the index and quest 3....

Well... not sure about FPS games, don't play those... but Quest 3 was simply not sharp enough to see distant objects in DCS really clearly. If there werent stereo overlap issue that made it unusable for me, Q3 would be almost there though. For me VR1 is pretty much first headset that is sharp enough to use it all the time for gaming. But based on what you want... then Meganex superligt might be the headset you want. If you don't mind small FOV then it should be something to watch for.
