Agreed! I used to shoot Canon, but I recently moved to Sony because of the availability of lenses. I think the Canon has great image quality and good features and I would have stuck with them if they opened up to 3rd party lenses. I found that the money I saved on lenses made up for the extra cost of the camera. The 3rd party Sony lens gives Sony a run for their GM lenses.

Sony A7 IV is the better hybrid cameras, a7 33mp Photos Canon R6 ii only 24. Sony video oversampling 7k in 4k Canon 6k to 4k. The crop is no problem, because, slow motion mostly are close ups. If someone want to film raw always, they choose Red or blackmagic. Canon get your money with the lenses and different mounts, Sony u have one mount and use the lens on a cheap apsc or on a Sony burano.

It all depends on how you use it! These are mostly arguments for the sony being a better video camera though- from a hybrid standpoint, the Canon is a much stronger option for action and event photographers, while still having objectively better video specs.

You said "Only 24 mp" like it has 10mp or something. 24mp is still a lot. I used both cameras and for event photography and other stuff I literally cant see any difference in my photos. Where I saw a huge difference is the high ISO performance being better with R6II.

The Sony A7 IV is currently $2,098, which it often hits regularly. But it was very recently $1,849 on sale (and may return for black friday). Just to add some context to the pricing mentions in the video from 2 weeks ago, it's been in the $2,098 range since the beginning of November. Also just want to mention that Sony has cameras for each use, so comparing it as a video camera is a bit odd, since the Sony A7 S series is generally considered best for that. A7 Standard all around A7S Great for low light/video A7R Best for high res photography A1 Top of the line all around camera that encompasses the best aspects off all 3

You could have done a way better job convincing people to decide between these cameras. R6 4k sharper due to 6k oversampling to 4k? Even in your compare shot the A7IV looks a bit sharper/detailed. You forgot to mention that the A7IV samples down to 4k from 7k and it is among the sharpest 4k output on the planet. The R6 sure has a some great features that we want to see in the A7V, but you make us believe the A7IV is a bad camera for lacking those features. And then when the A7IV has better stabilization performance or better photo features.. we do not need it suddenly? Sony a7IV was not my first choice at first, it was actually the canon R6 II, because I am already familiar with the UI, the real reason I bought the A7IV was because of the deal I got at that time compared to the R6 II, but before I pulled the trigger I did my last deep dive research which is the lens choices. Canon RF mount is not completely open to other lens of choice comparerd to sony, I had seen the sigma and tamron line up and boy you can see the difference. For me it boils down to lenses of choice. If I could not afford the pricey tag of the original mount, I would wish there would be alternative, that is what lead me to sony. Do I regret buying it? No. It will all depends on your choice. Is the A7IV perfect compared to Canon R6 II? It will all depends. I suggest do a lot of research at first before jumping into a lot of conclusion that you might regret later on. For me both are the best out there. It will really comes down to what you feel, need and use.

I’m glad you were able to find the right camera for you! The lack of third party lenses for RF mount is definitely a negative. Canon’s opened up this mount recently, but we’ll probably still have to wait another year or so before we see RF mount sigmas/tamrons on the market.

Biggest issue with the Canon echo system is the lack of third party lenses, and with the price of the native RF lenses, the body price difference is nullified quickly. But yes, the Sony 4k 60 crop is a definite con.

I disagree with this video. I have an a7iv for my chasing, and the low light is great when paired with a good lens such as Ziess or GM. Also, who can complain about oversampiling from 7k and full pixel read out with no crop. As a tuber as well, it seems you made a controversial title for some easy clicks and views... 🤔

For still life and food, product photography I was torn between the Sony A7IV, Canon R6 II and Sony A7R4. I think I eliminated the Canon because 40 frames per second wouldn't work for me. Also, since 61mp photos would tire me out, the A74 is a better option for me.

7:24 Sony Creators app lets you control the camera remotely, so doing this wouldn't be an issue, on doesn't have to be near the camera, one can be meters away.

As a college student, I've finally saved up enough to upgrade my camera (Canon m50, which I've made work somehow lol), on top of a good quality lens. These two are the cameras I'm debating between. I still haven't decided, but I need to hurry up as spring is a busy season for my photography. The goal is to have a fun user experience while giving my clients a good bang for their buck. My concerns with canon are the lens options and prices. I shoot lowlight, lifestyle, creative portraits, and sports. I want to pull the trigger on a Sony but I'm already so accustomed to Canon. Any advice?? HELP!

If you’d prefer to stick with canon, then you can always get an RF-EF adaptor and pick up some amazing EF glass on the aftermarket. I prefer the R6ii to the A7IV for the reasons stated in the video :)

As a Nikon Z landscape, wildlife and BIF photographer, I'm happy with the output from that system, but even the Z8 is rather heavy for traveling light. Hence, I'm seeking a smaller "travel" camera for landscape/wide angle work, and strongly considering the Sony a7IV because the body is compact, and the reviews of lenses like the Sony 16-35 f/2.8 GMaster seem stellar. Does Canon offer anything comparable? Thank you.

Big Sony advantage : lens choice ! I could buy along with the A7iv the Tamron f2.8 trinity from 17mm to 180mm much more cheaper than Canon lenses for fantastic results.

The Canon R6 is all around better than the A7IV. I especially love the ergonomics of Canon cameras as compared to pretty much all Sonys. The one deal breaker for most people is the fact that Canon still hasn't opened up the RF mount full frame to third party manufacturers. At least I can still use EF compatible lenses with zero issues.

I am on the way to check the market and no brand has my clear preference right now. Canon has the best ergonomics it has always been the case since the 80-90s when I was shooting film, but Sony has an edge on sensor performance when you consider dynamic range and raw resolution. Sony has another advantage and this one can be decisive for many, you got so much choice regarding lenses, Canon's are great but so innacessible when you're not shooting for a living and that "sucks".

I always bounce between my Lumix S5II and the Canon R6II. I end up deciding to keep my current gear every time. The S5II is built slightly more towards video which I like and (although the lineup is small for now) the L mount has third party lens support. Plus I really enjoy the Panasonic's design language. No matter what model, G mount or L mount, the buttons are right where you want them to be. Add good AF - I can't complain.

Rf lens ecosystem is horrible, Sony has a much better lens selection. I don’t care about photos but the 7K oversampled on the A7iv is a lot better when cropping in post.

I wanted to purchase a Sony camera, but my experience with them has not been good. First and most importantly they do not service their own cameras. I own the A6000 and the viewfinder will wash out from time to time. The 18-105mm f/4 I had was defective right out of the box. Final thing for me was sending the camera to Photo Tech (authorized repair center) for a sensor cleaning, and it was less than perfect. I also owned the D700 and sent it once to Nikon for cleaning and it came back pristine. I cannot imagine an independent repair center would have the facilities to do what, say a Nikon repair facility can. Google Sony customer service and it seems to be almost all bad. I just couldn’t bring myself to buy a camera from them.

I just bought the A7iv for $1849 plus I get nearly $400 cash back from CapOne. Other camera I considered was the Z6ii. I chose the Sony due to the lens selection. The Z6ii did a few things better, but the cost of lenses was a big factor. The A7iv does some things better and I know I will love it. I am coming from a D7200. Never considered a Canon.

Canon camera bodies are cheaper than Sony, but once the price of just one or two lenses are added in, it is not even close. Here are a couple comparisons (used on MPB January 1st, 2025): Tamron FE 28-75 mm f2.8 = $549 Canon RF 24-70 mm f2.8 = $1,939 OK so L series is superior... let's compromise and look at the new Canon RF 28-70 f2.8 = $1,079 Or the Canon RF 24-105 mm f4 = $919 OK let's put together some primes to compete with that 28-75 mm range... Canon RF 24 mm f1.8 = $414 Canon RF 35 mm f1.8 = $329 Canon RF 50 mm f1.8 = $144 Canon RF 85 mm f2.0 = $429 Let's just leave this out since its a bit longer than the 75... Total for 3 Canon RF primes = $887 And now we are seeing some cheap 3rd party lenses, some competing with G-Master for Sony FE mount: Viltrox 20 mm f2.8 = $178 (New) Viltrox 40 mm f2.5 = $168 (New) TT Artisan 75 mm f2.0 = $178 (New) Viltrox 24 mm f1.8 = $379 (New) Sirui 85 mm f1.4 = $499 (New) Frequent new 3rd party lens announcements It is not even close on price. Oh boy...don't even bother adapting Canon glass to Sony unless you plan to shoot manually. The AF does work for photos but nowhere what the Sony glass will get you. And for video, the AF doesn't work at all because the Sigma Mc11 is only meant to be used with Sigma EF glass.

LAUGHABLY INACCURATE MATH The 24 MP Canon R6 II is an excellent hybrid and will save you $200 not $500 compared to the Sony 33 MP A7IV but ONLY if you don’t buy any lenses to shoot with. Comparing a modest three lens professional kit with a 24-70, 70-200 and 85 1.4 the overpriced Canon RF glass will set you back a whopping $7200 vs. a similar Sigma e-Mount kit of only $3360. Need a 35 1.4, an f/2.8 wide zoom, and perhaps a 135 1.8 and you’ll need to sell your Ferrari to round out your Canon kit. And the lighter Tamron glass will save you even more. The a7V is expected first quarter of 2025.

I hate Sony cameras and I hate how much clout and attention they get by clients demanding we shoot on them!! They are such unreliable cameras full of bugs! I've never dealt with a camera brand that has more bugs than Sony. I've lost count the amount of times I've been on a shoot and the camera just straight up stops working. Never dealt with that issue with Canon, Panasonic, even BLACKMAGIC!!! Not to mention their god awful color reproduction and skin tones.

I'm not going to pull open a can of hate here, but it does seem to me, just going through the video that this is completely your reasons for preferring one over the over. Obviously both are more than suitable for professional work. Some points you make are highly subjective, sometimes simply false. The main reason for most people to buy a camera nowadays is: which lens ecosystem am i in, and what am i used to / what do i find easy to use. So why people take so much offence with the video is because this is not very transparent in your video, instead claiming the canon is simply better, which is entirely a matter of opinion.

its all just your opinion, nothing more, it is also a year newer than the A74, and your pricing info is wrong your quoting old versus current pricing, do a review when you have the correct facts and people are buying way more Sony cameras than Canon, i know i am in the industry for years and not a Canon fanboy, learn to make an unbiased review, both companies make great cameras, simply said, then it comes down to personal preference , i used Canon for years and now enjoy years of Sony cameras and no issues of each Sony camera i have owned and Sony offers more lens options for all there camera bodies, so it is a win for the consumer ,not just Sony

i was about to put a negative comment lol but i watched thru this and ... i think i agree with you for 2024. i was a canon shooter for around 10y and i made some money with canon. But after becoming more hobby mode, i moved to sony when Canon was lagging with mirrorless. Now in 2024, sony a7-4 is dated now and canon is the better option for the price. heheheh good review

I just got the A7IV for 2060$ where i live. And its still very expensive compared to R6II that costs 1740$ brand new in my area. If it wasn't for the lenses, I would get the R6II without any thoughts. I used friends R6II for a weak, and compared to the a7IV it has MUCH better high ISO performance compared to A7IV.

Canon hands down has the best gear both bodies and lenses. The problem is it costs a kidney and a lung to get a set of lenses. I can get 80-90% of the performance from Sony and lenses for less than half the cost. The price of the body on Sony is made up for in the lens selection

Who cares. He is a shill and in order to feel good about this Canon, he has to rip Sony. I love my Sony digital cameras as much as I love my Nikon F2. I got a lot of great images from the Nikon F2. I didn't need a motor drive, though I did buy one. It finally broke. But pictures I got for my job working on USAF base newspapers I did one shot at a time. Practice develops skill. Once you reach that skill level, any camera will do fine.
