Ralphie really couldn't help himself. He knew he had done wrong but not only did he not listen to Tony's advice not to apologise, but he then sat there and defended his joke in front of Tony and Sil. It doesn't matter what he did, he was unapologetic. He had allowed the idea of being a big earner get so much to his head that he thought it made him beyond reproach.

I always liked John. He seemed to have a bit of class......he was still a ruthless gangster.....but he had a sense of honor when it came to family. I remember when Tony blew up when something was said or done about his daughter. I think the point of this part in the series is that very fact. Its not anything new to any of the wiseguys, but as soon as it gets spilled out; tony is more concerned about who leaked it, not the joke. And because silence is so important its not accepted. But because ralph is such a good earner he cant be clipped. I think its just a phase to show how at any time something can come out of what seems to be nothing and that everyone apart from jonny sacks was in on the joke.
