Watching the ‘Talking Sopranos’ Podcast with Steve Schirripa and Michael Imperioli, I learned that the great Robert Loggia was having problems remembering his lines, due to advancing age and the fact that actors had to recite the lines EXACTLY as written. If the line was: “He appeared to be upset,” and the actor said: “He looked upset.” It had to be redone. But everyone patiently worked with him and never complained that a 3 hour scene took 8 hours to get right, because of the respect the cast/crew had for Loggia.

The character of Feech LaManna always reminded me of Philadelphia Mafia member Raymond "Long John" Martorano. Martorano was born in Sicily and was an old timer in the Philly Family. He was from the Angelo Bruno era. He went to prison for a long time. When he got out, the Philly Family is now run by Joey Merlino. Martorano overstepped his boundaries and tried to overtake some rackets that were not his. He ended up getting whacked.

whoa. i love posts like this...let me ask you something, i posted in a forum not too long ago on reddit about Nicky Scarfo. Remember when Sil says "need i remind you of the butcher from AC". Was he talkin about Scarfo? Also I'm gonna look up Ray. Thank you!
@39Hundred9 ай бұрын
@@ceerious I never thought about that. The “Butcher From AC” most likely is a reference to Scarfo. David Chase was a genius. Thanks! 👍🏼

I remember that! He was going to get the K &A Gang to be the muscle to take out Uncle Joe Ligambi. He wasn't supposed to be wacked, just warnd to stay retired. Someone, probably Johnny Gongs Cassasanto, got trigger-happy and shot Long John. They ran, and Long John tried to drive himself to Pennsylvania Hospital and passed out in his car and ran into a tree. He died from the car accident, not the gunshot wound.

I don't know. The legend of Feech La Manna and Robert Loggia just doesn't add up. Ralph called him a 'Mustache Pete made over on the other side.' This was a term coined by Lucky Luciano to describe the old time bosses of strict tradition, Joe 'The Boss' Masseria and Salvatore Maranzano. True Italian OGs. Ralphie's story would imply that this was a real Italian from Italy who would probably be as old as Junior is now back when Tony, Jackie and Richie were kids and dead by this point. Then we have Robert Loggia come in sounding like he was born in Brooklyn and about Junior's age. This is far from being a 'mustache Pete' and he sounds about as OG Italian from 'the other side' as the rest of them.
@ceerious10 ай бұрын
one of the best answer to this story i heard so far. should be talked about. if you want we can do a video on it sometime
@hansolo6319 ай бұрын
Maybe prior to like the 60's they went to italy for the ceremony or some nonsense. Or maybe he lived in Brooklyn till he was like 11 then in Italy till he was like 25 then back to jersey. I agree that the line turned out to be nonsense, probably didn't even know they were going to write him in to the story yet, but there are ways to stretch it I guess. Pretty sad though. He came out of the joint and had beef with the boss and either forgot or never realized how wily a boss would be. He still just saw junior's little nephew instead of stopping and thinking that maybe he shouldn't underestimate someone who got to such a position so fast.

Feech was awesome IMO. Apparently Robert Loggia couldn't remember his lines for shit and they had to do like a million takes for all his scenes. Maybe that is why they had him killed off so soon? Or maybe that was the plan all along.

Feech and Richie arc is the turning point for Tony's career as a boss. Everybody saw how loyalty is worthless for Tony and all the structure build over code start falling apart. Those "old timers" were living remind of how the Mafia has changed over time. "You don't kill old elephants"
