Meadow also comes across as just very naive in many scenes, with the added twist that she thinks of herself as quite smart and sophisticated. Nonetheless, this is part of the quality of the show, to have characters that remain ambiguous to the audience and ambivalent about their own place in the story.

@kingjamie28 жыл бұрын
+Sloth from The Goonies I'm only on season 3 but it seems like she only says critical things to her father and mother, she never badmouths them for what her father does for a living to the outside. Also it seems like as she gets older she becomes more appreciative of her father, and only berates him for being illiberal or makes jibes about him being a criminal when she's in highschool or the beginning of college. So it's less that she's flipflopping on her position and more that she grows up and gets more mature in her thinking.

@dtho62316 жыл бұрын
Wtf are you talking about. She is not in denial she is fully aware of what her dad does. She accepts it though. Unlike Camilla she doesn't make excuses or looks the other way she knows what her dad does and is okay with it. She is a highly educated lawyer, about to be married to another highly educated lawyer, that was also the child of a mob member. They realize they are were they are today because of the mob and everything their parents/grandparents did and because of that will defend them and keep their secrets.
@deepfried136 жыл бұрын
I don't think she's fully aware of what her dad does. I think she has some vague idea of his illegal business dealings; racketeering, gambling, maybe a shakedown or two, but she doesn't grasp the intense violence and murder that goes hand in hand with it. This scene is a perfect example of that. I think she's actually pretty similar to her mother in that she's able to rationalize Tony's lifestyle without grasping what a true monster he is. If Meadow actually knew about him killing Jackie, or Chris, or even Pussy, I bet she'd be singing a different tune.

This is my favorite scene with Meadow. She's way too smart to not realize subconsciously that Tony knows EXACTLY how Jackie died and probably ordered it. But the moment an "outsider" is allowed to be around their lives, she shows a natural loyalty to her family and the story that they circulate. People can call her a hypocrite but I think its a perfect scene that shows just how insulated groups allow themselves to be from the outside world and just how hard it is to break from that. She knows what her dad is, which makes her a sort of fucked up royalty, and she will be damned if anyone steps outside of their place.

This was a great scene. Season 3 was all about parenting. This scene showed Meadow's other side. She'll attack her immediate family directly, calling Tony a "mafioso" right to his face, but when it's time to defend their last name against an outsider, she steps up. And she totally agrees with Jackie's sister, too, but it's not the right place to speak her mind. This scene is especially satisfying after her whole season 3 arc with Noah/Jackie and her father.

Meadow was a sociopath in training. Even if wrong, you allow the sister to grieve her brother how she wants, or over any imminent family member for that matter, even in anger and hostility and she couldn't give that. Anyway she was going to marry Patrick Parisi. Sure he was studying law, but just like Tony Soprano going to college who is to say that he doesn't get into the family business. To me the Mafia moll's were just as horrifying. Livia, Carmela, Meadow, Adriana and Janice, not to mention the many others we see less of are vile monsters.

@@HugoStiglitz88 I respect your opinion, but I disagree I think she realizes where Meadow’s headspace is at and where she stands now. She looks disappointed as well not really defeated. In my opinion.

They did an excellent job casting the girl who played Kelly. Not only did she resemble Rosalie but she had a lot of Rosalies demeanor. Subtle, but obvious. Would have liked to see more of her.

This was the First episode of The Sopranos I ever saw. I was staying in a hotel three weeks after 911 happened. Had to binge watch whatever Sopranos tapes, (library had not yet cataloged dvd's yet) I never thought HBO was worth subscribing to. They show the same movies over and over. When I did get HBO in 2013; I watched their Signature channel at 8:00 and 11:00 pm. every weekday when they showed the reruns; even though I have all the dvds'. A&E did an awful edit job when they carried the show. Thanks Meadow! for busting my Sopranos cherry.
