I like his arc cause it shows how even the "non-threatening" guys like Vito have their own circles and lives, and how intimidating they can be. Fleshes things out and reminds you of the scope of the family, it isn't just Tony having a laugh with Paulie, Sil, And Chrissy. There's dozens of sociopath crimelords in the family, even if on the show they are an associate or soldier, a mafia soldier would be a scary guy to be around and have any kind of possibly negative dealings with

Agreed. At first I thought Finn seemed soft but ultimately I think he came to be a good embodiment of the Everyman and a reminder of how shocking it's be for any normal person to get thrown in to these guys' world. I also think his character helps shine a light on the hypocrisy of characters like Meadow and Carmella - even though they aren't personally out there committing crimes, they perform all kinds of mental backflips to desensitize and deny that it's happening all around them and they benefit from it. Just imagine telling your girlfriend that you saw one of her dad's friends savagely beat the other with a glass bottle over a harmless joke and having her just brush it off like it's no big deal.

She figured they were into illegal activities, but would never have imagined that they were the psychopathic murders that they really were. Finn saw guys laughing about a guy getting his head split open. Meadow never saw that. Neither did Carmella, but she was around long enough to know that murder was part of that thing. But she went along because it brought them money

It's funny how in terms of Meadow's boyfriends, Finn was the inverse of Jackie Jr. The latter was a legacy son that idealized the criminal lifestyle, overestimates his abilities, and gets himself killed for stupidly misunderstanding how badly he fucked up in it. Shaggy on the other hand is an outsider who quickly realizes how dangerous that world is, recognizes he's completely in over his head, and survives because he gets the hell out of it.

I liked Finn. I also liked the fact that he's a bit of an everyman; his experience with Tony's crew is a jarring reminder that these are not nice people and it is not our world. After watching the show twice (and probably watching another 30 hours of BorkoHBO on KZbin) it's natural to come to like some of the characters even though I know they're pieces of shit. I think Finn's partly in there to show us what'd happen if we entered their world -- there'd be no joking or camaraderie, just a crippling (and very real) fear that we'd get our heads busted open for absolutely nothing.

Just like Vic Musto represented the normal guy and life that Carmela could never hope to have, Finn represented the normal guy and life that Meadow would never be able to have. He was the perfect guy for her; smart, motivated, career-minded, good kid. But being with her turned into one nightmare after the next for him as it would be for any "regular" guy she was serious with. Only mob guys would be OK with that baggage.

Count Basi Both were stellar musicians. My favorite is Basie’s orchestra around the year 1940. Such an amazing sound. But all of his stuff is good. And Fats Waller was incredibly talented, such a unique style and he passed away way too soon. Cool to see that people still have good taste even nowadays lol
