See, this was the beautiful thing about this show. All the towns and landmarks mentioned in NJ were real. For example, at 0:40 where Ralphie mentions "....we hit the intersection of Passaic Ave and New Dutch Lane". This is an actual real intersection in Fairfield, NJ right next to the Essex County Airport (CDW). The traffic light is really there too. I drive by it every day, and my house is 4 miles away from it, living on Passiac Ave myself. Very cool to see that degree of reality sprinkled into every episode. Nothing was made up.

Had a couple Italian friends when I was younger and they’d invite me to family dinners. In retrospect, my younger self never had the courage to acknowledge how racist, vindictive, xenophobic and self centered they were. I was too busy enjoying the love, the laughs, and ball busting.
