In The Sopranos we follow New Jersey mob boss Tony Soprano, a complex and compelling character who is also, by the end of the show, unashamedly evil. As boss, Tony orders the death of many individuals and its likely there’s many more deaths that have occurred off screen as a result of Tony, but in terms of how many people the man himself has personally killed, there are 8 instances in the show, and today I wanted to rank them.
Tony Sopranos whacks 8 people in the show - Chucky Signore, Willie Overall, Matthew Bevilacqua, Febby Petruolo, Tony Blundetto, Salvatore Bonpensiero, Ralph Cifaretto and Christopher Moltinsanti.
How many people did Tony Soprano kill? How many people did Tony whack? Tony's murders ranked.

See I thought the opposite bc his loyalty was never to Ade's love no matter how devoted she was to Chrissy. So I figured that Christopher would forever have it made in the shade & oh sh*t no pun intended 🙃

Chris's inability to kill Adrianna when she told him she was working with the Feds combined with his inability to stay off the dope made him weak in Tony's eyes and objectively a liability who could have brought the whole thing down. He had to go, and Tony probably viewed it as a mercy that he did it himself, much like Tony B.

At first, Tony's character was evil but sympathetic. In the end. He looked like Michael Myers killing Christopher. No emtion. Just a blank stare. And he even did the famous MM head tilt when a car passed by during the act. He literally turned into a mindless killer with no emotions. (Aside from self preservation. Watching Chris die and glancing up to make sure he was alone).

The first time I saw Christopher's death, I was shocked! As the guy put it in the video, it definitely crossed my mind that Christopher could die. When Chris got shot at by Matt and Sean, I saw that moment as a reckless one done by the perpetrators. When Tony squeezed Chris's nose, that was not business as usual, it was personal.

With the Tony B murder, I feel like I can see James Gandolfini managed to put some regret and sorrow in his eyes and facial expressions behind the overlying coldness, it's very subtle but I think it's there. Only a master actor like Jimmy G would be able to pull this off.

The worst thing about pretty much all hits is that none of Tony's crew members do much to cover up things like finger prints or DNA. When killing Fabian Petrulio Tony would have left both sweat, blood and perhaps finger prints and another example - When Paulie and that other guy takes out the colombians in season 6; they left finger prints all over the murder scene and both of them where known criminals. In that regard most hits are the worst.

@@petert2481 Sil likely would've either been taken out or would've stepped back down to consigliere pretty quick if he became boss. He literally had a heart attack when he was the boss while Tony was in a coma. With Sil either dead or demoted it'd be between Vito and Ralphie as they were both by far the best earners in the family and would have the most support. Chrissy is too young and inexperienced so he wouldn't get much support and Paulie is mostly viewed as a bit of an idiot by most of the family so he probably wouldn't get much backing either. If Ralphie got it (assuming he's never found out as the guy who killed Tony) I think he'd do a pretty good job. The whole incident with his son seemed to mellow him out quite a lot so I could see him becoming a decent and less evil (by mob standards) boss and would probably be more efficient than Tony was as he isn't nearly as insecure or emotional as Tony is. If Vito got it he'd do decent until he gets exposed for being gay. There's no way anyone in the family will want to have any association with him so he'd get deposed immediately and would likely suffer the same fate he does normally by Phil's hand. Ralphie would then take over. Tony B probably would've been whacked after the Joey Peeps hit as neither Vito or Ralphie would be willing to defend him to the length that Tony did. Christopher would've survived and likely wouldn't have relapsed (or it would have taken longer) as he doesn't have Tony B (well he would but without Tony S Tony B wouldn't have made fun of him for being sober) or Tony S to bully him back into drinking.

One small error - the first time we see Tony commit murder isn’t during his beef with Junior in season 1, it’s during the episode “College” when he kills Febby for being a rat. That aside - I agree with the commentary of the Chuckie Signore hit. I always wondered how so many murders and beatings were committed sloppily and in broad daylight, yet nobody even gets so much as a casual visit from the cops asking about them. Matt Bevilaqua’s murder is the only exception.

Its not like he was the boss when several of them were killed. As for some of the others... Tony was ALONE when he did the deed. He was alone when he personally took down his cousin Tony B AND Chris was more of an "opportunity kill" than anything. Chris had relapsed again with drugs (note the dialogue before the crash)... and Tony saw a chance. He didn't go tell the crew he did it... but that Chris died from the accident. Also, with Ralph... ONLY Chris knew of that... Tony didn't go there to kill Ralph.. it escalated to that point. Also with the Rat.... so four kills ... Tony B, Ralph, Chris, and the Rat were done while Tony was boss... But he didn't plan any of those at all ahead of time whereas he'd be in the situation where he would send someone to do it. Not even the Tony B situation which he felt was his own responsibility to take care of. In fact, he had his own crew convinced.... it was "New York" that did Tony B. As for some of the others.... I think 3 of those happened before he was technically the boss. Pussy's death was different BUT... it had the other captains there and was a "together" we gotta do this thing type situation.

When Tony S killed Tony B, the show's producers or someone made Tony B's body fly backwards very hard. This violates Isaac Newton's 3rd law. For every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction. Of course a kick from a shotgun doesn't send the shooter flying through the air, so the person being shot won't fly like that either. Tony S is more massive than Tony B, so Tony S wouldn't be sent in motion as fast as Tony B, but there's no noticable effect on Tony S's velocity, and a huge effect on Tony B's velocity.

Copy of a mafiosi killing of a mother not wanting her son recruited by them so dude literally blows her away with a shotgun......a young man, Vito Carleone (De Niro) goes back to Italy and kills him in return.

Christopher probably wouldn't have survived anyways (or, if so, would've been handicapped for life). He could've killed Tony in that car wreck, too. Reckless disregard and compromised by drugs. He had to go.

8:30 Again, would it really cause dysentery in the ranks? How would Tony failing to take care of Blundetto cause diarrhea in the ranks, exactly? Do you mean dissent? Dissention? Are you channeling little Carmine? I think Chrissy should have been sent to the worm farm seasons earlier. Ralph Cifaretto I would have liked to see continue all the way through. Joe Pantoliano is amazing.

I always thought that Christopher was going to die from that accident, even if Tony called 911. The way he was breathing and how serious his injuries appear to be, I don't think they would have been able to save him.

As someone who knew real wise guys I'll tell you this much Tony would have ended up in a shallow grave or found in a car trunk as soon as his people found out he was going to a shrink. The doctor would also disappear in case Tony said anything to her.

Tony didn't need to fear Ralph being a threat because Ralph was like Richie. Just like Junior said he couldn't sell it because he's not respected. Who's going to follow Ralph, if Ralph was in charge he'd be Nicky Scarffo 2.0 how'd the original work out. Money would be good but the bodies would add up because the boss is a psycho.
