While not shown here, I always loved the scene in this episode with Tony at AJ's football game being a proud dad. A sliver of wholesome normalcy.

Like father, like son. We've heard that Tony's father had a "condition" that made him anxious. We've seen Tony experience panic attacks in his childhood and adulthood. Now to fullfill the prophecy, AJ's mental health also seems to be affected. Whether it's a predisposition in their genes or as a result of them being raised in Mob families, the Sopranos' men appear to be cursed with the inability to cope with stress.

"That *putrid*, fuckin' Soprano gene..."
@russellward46242 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's genetic. I don't want to go into it too much and provide spoilers but IMO it's about the effects of Tony's lifestyle, the same way his dads effected him. It effects all of them one way or another.

panic disorder runs in families, aj has panic disorder just like his father
@russellward46242 жыл бұрын
True but we know it's not a physical thing. It's about the blood money and how it effects things. The same with Tony and his dad. Tony didn't pass out at some random time. It was the direct result of criminal activity and knowing the food they eat every day is the result.
@prettymuchbangtan2 жыл бұрын
@@russellward4624 well yeah but like my family suffers from the same "putrid fucking gene" as the sopranos do but theres no cause, it is actually a physical thing as its an incredibly bad misfiring of neurons in your brain that make you think youre in imminent danger therefor setting off a panic attack. it sucks, i have 5-10 a day if im not medicated
@russellward46242 жыл бұрын
@@prettymuchbangtan but Tony has gone through loads of tests and they tell him it's not physical. It's why he goes to a psychiatrist to deal with his self loathing.
@prettymuchbangtan2 жыл бұрын
@@russellward4624 technically panic attacks are physical as they are caused by 1) the misfiring of neurons in the brain and 2) an over abundance of adrenaline when it happens, when doctors say something "isnt physical" they mean its not something they can fix or correct with surgery. the brain is a physical part of your body and mental illness, which panic disorder and depression are, means your brain is therefore sick, but theres no surgery to fix either, so doctors attempt to ease the symptoms by using medications to CHANGE the way the brain works, so yeah to a degree it is physical. he doesnt go there to deal with his self loathing, Dr. Melfi is trying to get to the root causes of his panic attacks to help prevent or ease future episodes but no matter what she does it wont work because tony is a psychopath and therapy does not work for them, it only helps them to become better criminals

Christopher is lazy. Just like he thought buying the laptop "would do most of the work" writing the script. He thought being made just means sitting back and money falls into your lap. He wants the "fame" and perks of being a gangster but doesn't want to do the work.
