Phil coming out of the closet makes this brutal scene is almost unintentionally comical for two reasons: First, he's coming out of the closet to confront someone he suspects of being gay. Second, it's just silly thinking about him hiding in a closet in order to make a more dramatic appearance. All of these guys are dopes. Dangerous, but dopes.
@HF-dv5vv3 жыл бұрын
Him emerging from the closet is one of those hidden comedy gems. To think he asked himself how he could make an intimidating entrance kinda says a lot about Phil, that he is trying to be some kind of Sophisticated intimidating mob boss but to us it’s kinda petty. I think they wrote each of these characters in the sopranos to have exaggerated personality traits for comedic effect so we don’t think of mobsters as the brutal highly organised criminals in other mafia representations, but more as a bunch of fumbling idiots living in a fantasy.

To me it basically all boils down to a variation of the commandment "Do onto others as you would have them do onto you". The alternate take I take for this would be "Don't find glee by doing onto others what you would hate for them to do onto you". Hypocrisy is the worst nature in humans as it leads to so much other bad qualities.
