spooky or corbin, whatever you wanna call him, is one of the most genuine down to earth people I have ever met. a few years ago my girlfriend at the time was acquaintances with his girlfriend at the time. (idk if they're still together or not) it was right around when he had just dropped "ice boy" and he was selling some dope hoodies with the songs cover n stuff professionally printed on them. however, my girlfriend and I had missed the sales deadline by like a week. i remember being so bummed like "awww damn, we missed the hoodie drop!" and said to my gf "guess we'll just have to wait for another drop or buy second hand. she gives me this look and says "well...i could text his girl if they have any extra left" I tell you my jaw dropped so hard. turns out they went to middle school or something years back. she texts her and she replies with "yea he does actually! can you drive to meet us in a bit? " my jaw then fell out of its socket and hit the wood floor lol 2 hours later we drive to this vegan restaurant in st. Paul and her and spook were munchin on some fries waiting for us. I remember being so damn star struck at first (couch potato by bobby raps and him is one of my top 20 fav albums of all time, so i couldn't believe what was going on. our girlfriends hug n shit and we sat and chatted ith them for like 15-20 minutes. I did the obligatory "couch potato is one of the most sonically pleasing albums I've heard, he kinda chuckled and said thanks but he had zero desire to talk about himself, or would outright refuse compliments regarding it. I asked about the material the hoodies were made from and if they were heat pressed. he sort of became more engaged and began asking me questions. (my father owns his own clothing printing company he started out our basement, so i actually had knowledge about the better materials for various types of hoodies or t-shirts and image methods to use). by the end of the 15-20 minutes i completely forgot about how I was sitting at a table with one of my favorite artists from my home state. i felt so goddamn cool for having him ask me questions about a topic I knew about rather than us sitting there and annoying him with questions like "what's bobby like?, how's it feel to be a Twin cities legend" but to just having a normal conversation like normal people. my girlfriend at the time are no longer together (she turned out to be a mean cold hearted person, however i will forever feel indebted to her for allowing me to have such a unique and surreal experience with someone i looked up to and admired a bunch. after we left and got back in the car i was giddy as shit like a fuckin schoolgirl meeting harry styles or some shit and texted my homies so MF fast. insanely cool guy who is exactly what you'd expect him to be in person. he truly makes the music for himself and to cope with things for himself and the fact that so many people love it and relate to it is just a nice sort of plus to him but not why he does it. sorry for the long ass story comment but easily one of my most exciting moments of those years and I haven't thought about or told the story in years now. and yes, I still have the hoodie. I make sure to take care of it. they even gave us a pretty nice discount too if I remember right.

You, my friend, are very very blessed! Since I was a kid, I’ve been listening to him. It got less because, you know, my interest in music changed and I was kind of disappointed with GWS. I found Spooky Black by couch potato. I was an avid SoundCloud listener and he became one of my favorite artists. At the time I was still listening to XXX and he hadn't quite blown up for about another year. (peep/bones and suicide boys bc im basic. they weren't popular yet but still lololol) look at me got popular my senior year. (2017) idk the exact amount of time but for years now ive listened to couch potato to help me fall asleep. it's always an album i can return to. wretch is my favorite song. under his name Corbin.

Well now I know who he is, thanks for the video, it was extremely insightful! I have a video suggestion for you, and I tried dming you on Twitter, but I’m not sure if you saw it, but here it is. I loved your SoundCloud videos, and I wanted to make a video suggestion which was the downfall of SoundCloud rap and the SoundCloud rap era, and I know there’s a new wave that ongoing right now, but I want you to talk about how it started from 2013- to the rise in 2015-early 2018, and then the fall, post 2018 and then you could talk about the app and the new things that started to pop up, how it was different from previous years, and how it changed. You can also talk about the current SoundCloud scene, how this new wave of artists compare to the ones back in 2015-2018, and talk about what’s going on right now. I really think that it would be a great video, and I would love to see a whole detailed video like it, and I feel like you would make the best one. Lemme know what you think

Been following Corbin since the very beginning of his career, his music really speaks to me; it's a tradition of mine to search for new songs every few months, finding songs here and there in the depth of YT. I feel his newest album won't get a lot of traction, it's quite different from his previous stuff, but hopefully it will help him go through and finally embrace his calling.
