Absolutely superb video Jarl. You shot and framed everything perfectly, almost felt like I was there haha. Did joey do any filming or is he taking a break from it? I know most of his gear is falling apart, next time we meet up for a trip I'm going to give him some of my stuff I don't use anymore.

Shoot, I like Joey...I'd very seriously consider buying him some needed gear and all I'd want in exchange is perhaps some friendship and to be considered for backpacking with him when he goes with a small group. Joey if you read this and you really need some gear let me know.

This excellent video is a visual delight with the splendid views, the lovely meadows filled with colourful wild flowers. Thank you Jarl! I needed this positivity - yesterday I had to take my dearest, and my most talented dog to euthanasy. She was 11 years and 9 months old, my canine Soul Mate.

Joey has a big back yard. He casually cruises off trail like he was raised by wolves. Not a man made step or switchback in sight. Loved the flowers and vistas. If you hit the Carson Pass area at the right time, the bloom is over waist high in places. Thanks again for taking us along. So far, you've had great weather. Hope it holds.

I opened the video and my thumb accidentally forwarded it to the part where you are just north of Turpin Meadows Trailhead and you see the fan of trails all paralleling each other. I recognized where you were at instantly without hearing your introduction. I used to work at the Heart Six Ranch years ago which you would have passed to get to Turpin meadows. I pulled a string of pack mules taking people into the backcountry, which contributed to so many trails as the mules would all spread out taking their own trail, so they didn’t have to walk directly behind each other. They would do that anytime there was room to spread out. That is some wild country to this day. Our first camp was 22 miles in which would make for a long long ride. My friend carried a sawed off shotgun with slugs and I had a 44 magnum as bear spray had not yet been invented. We rarely saw any other people back there and it was an explorers dream. I found arrow heads, and even old worn teepee poles near the park boundary. I found a petrified log with beaver teeth marks in it. Sometimes we’d run out of food and eat fish and berries. Amazing country. Now Ill stop rambling and watch your video with great excitement as I’m sure you guys will video areas I used to go. I never took a camera with me back then, to which I’m horribly sad. The memories fade too much with time.

Awesome to hear from you! I made the same mistake of not taking any pictures earlier when I was in my 20s, something I regret too. We passed and talked to several horse packers/outfitters from the ranches around Turpin Meadow on the first day of our trip going up the North Fork of the Buffalo. Didnt meet anyone after that until we were over towards HW14 on the last day. So much incredible beauty out there, amazing country! The trail you made had me wondering if the mules get tired of walked in the deeper ruts, and just start walking new shallower ones...I have heard that the Thorofare Patrol Cabin is the most remote building in the lower 48, and this area gets way more remote than the most remote, such awesomeness!

Wow. Nice film. Great adventure. in 1974 my wife, 4 year old son and I horse packed from Dubois, Wyoming to Yount's Peak and the headwaters then spent ten days backpacking (following the river) down to the southeast arm of Yellowstone Lake. So cool to see that amazing country again. Made me want to return. Wrote a book about it, long out of print: Downriver, a Yellowstone Journey. Keep on keepin' on.

Limited where I can go nowadays, age, but it was like I was there. I had my grand daughter pick wild flowers so we could smell as we watched the entire trip. Like we were there. Thanks for sharing! I think she has the backpacking bug now, lol

Brilliant video and along with part 2 kept me entertained. The views are so inspiring. Do not want to be pedantic but the Yellowstone river makes its way via the Missouri/Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.

I had fun watching your video in full screen on one large monitor while I attempted to follow your hike via Google Earth on my other monitor. Sometimes I got a bit lost, but then would figure out where you were when you'd mention a landmark. It's fun to sometimes zoom into ground-level view to see if I can see the same scenery in Google Earth that you are showing in the video. That way I feel like I participated in your travels. Joey always shows a map and traces his route each day in his videos which certainly makes it easier to follow along. Great scenery and videography. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to part 2.

Thank you so much, I do the same with Google Earth and Apple Maps all the time, trying to find certain landmarks etc. Thanks for watching on a large monitor, it will give you a much better impression IMO. I choose not to put in maps most of the time because I dont want to endanger people who dont know how to do their own research.

Wow! What a cinematic experience! I didn’t know that there are so many things to do there! Yellowstone is the one famous NP that I didn’t explore much. After seeing this video, I really want to go there ASAP..) thanks for the wonderful video 😊👍👍👍

Breath taking videotography!!! Just beautiful!!! Enjoyed seeing Joey, too. In fact I was looking to see if he had put anything new out and didn't find anything but then this video popped up. So glad I ran across it. I see Joey taking pictures and maybe taping in this one. Does he plan to put some new KZbins out? I have missed his videos.

I so enjoyed taking the tour with you, brought back many old memories of when I went there, such a beautiful place. I wondered why there were so many dead pines right in with healthy ones, could it be a beetle that's killing them? Colorado has had the same problem for many years. Would loved to have seen some wildlife. Thanks for the great vids.
