The space force is a separate branch of the air force is but it is kind of like the Marines the space force Works under the air force. The space force is the newest branch of the military it was founded December the 20th 2018 and I think it is hilarious that the logo for the space force is the same logo that they use for Starfleet in Star trek.

In the Air Force, the badges over the name tapes are occupational badges. Being that they are Department of the Air Force, I can only assume the same applies for them

AF body currently stationed at a space force base/mission here, I can say that some jobs are absolutely set up for big money outside, but most are equivalent to AF Intel opportunities, which is to say still a decent outlook. The big issue is that the space jobs are high paying but fairly short supply and they tend to not last. Biggest hiring is done by spacex and ULA, maybe done of the more niche ones too like spinlaunch or firefly, but they actually need people with serious degrees on top of the experience. The most I've seen jump ship do so to IT jobs, as they'll make 6 figures and they rarely need more than a cert or two. On a different note, most of the people I interact with are actively trying to get out as the SF is an ultra chaotic place atm. Like all new organizations, the flail is real. Imagine a new organization that starts at a fortune 500 company's level of manpower and resources with little in the way of coordination, coherence, or direction. They're figuring it out, but it is painful. Thankfully I leave soon, back to my AF world.

I was in the Air Force doing space systems before the creation of the space force . One reason for the for its creation is consolidation, squadrons from different branches now operate under the one umbrella. SIBRS has been around since the gulf war so a lot of this isn’t new.

They probably get those patches above there branch of service after they go thru AIT. I believe it depends on there job and since its space force they probably dont have many MOS's so most of all of them get those what appears to be wings.

Guardian here. Disclaimer: My opinions do not represent the USSF or USAF. With that out of the way, I was part of the few who had the opportunity to switch from the Air Force to the Space Force. This branch is definitely not glamourous day to day. Like any branch of the military, lots of time is spent with boredom and repetition. That said there are plenty of really cool missions I've had the opportunity to be a part of. Long hours, lots of critical thinking, and a great amount of satisfaction of results. Each Delta, especially Delta 9 which deals with orbital warfare, have tons of value to our sister services. Great video, and I don't mind you clowning on us. At about 8k active duty personnel total, it's not surprising for most people to think we don't matter.

I would say for it academics wise it is much harder. Tried going space force, made a 84 on asvab. Your profile goes to board meeting and they either do or don't recommend you. It's very hard to get in. Now I didn't like hearing the chance of them saying no. So now I ship off next June, 6 year contract infantry with airborne on the contract. Putting duty station of choice alaska, so hopefully 11th airborne division
