Liz Kendall comes across as some petulant teenager. She's totally unfit to be debating in this argument and has in all likelihood convinced a fair number of viewers to switch to Vote Leave. Her colleagues weren't much better. I'd be truly ashamed if I was a member of the Remain campaign and saw these three buffoons debating in my name.Daniel Hannan, whom I'd never heard of before this debate, on the other hand was absolutely phenomenal, highly polished, intelligent and articulate and genuinely hilarious.

stephen thomas Yours is a nation of 60 million, mine is a nation of 9 million. Yours is a nation that imports up to 40% of the EU's exported goods, mine 3-5%. If we leave the EU first, they could deny us a new trade deal (which they most likely would) and it would not be disastrous for the EU economy, it would also be a great argument for your "stay in the EU" crowd: - "Hey look at Sweden, they left and now they ain't getting any trade". So no you have to go first. "We're all a bunch of dominoes glued to the floor, therefor we need a big domino with a lot of weight to fall first and uproot us all."

BlingSco No immigration is beneficial to the immigrants and multinational corporations operating in western countries. I have never understood how people can be moronic enough to hold the position you seem to hold. Answer me this my friend how does the influx of low skilled labor benefit citizens fighting for those same jobs? On that same note if you think that low skilled labors will go to school and become higher skilled labors or you think that we are importing higher skilled labors how does an influx of that labor benefit those fighting for those same or similar positions? More competition for jobs doesn't make life better for you it forces you to get more education which is likely unneeded for the position you are going for and forces you to have less certainty of a job. The idea's you have to hold in your head to believe mass immigration is good for the middle class are preposterous and down right maddening.
@hauskalainen
@hauskalainen 8 жыл бұрын
If you vote leave you will suddenly become an immigrant at every EU border point. That has not happened since we joined the EU in 1972. Get used to long wait times at immigration; the need to get a one-time Schengen visa before your visit (cost 30€ or 60€ depending on what gets negotiated); questions about purpose of visit; having to show your return ticket; the reminders that you cannot do paid work nor outstay your 4 weeks permit; And do not expect to be compensated for costs when you miss your connecting bus or flight because you won't get any. You must expect delays at the EU border because suddenly you will have become an IMMIGRANT.

I find Chuka Umunna very condescending. Like he's a frustrated, opinionated student that thinks everyone is wrong apart from him. It's a simple decision, just vote the OPPOSITE of what Cameron and Clegg want....and you're doing the right thing for this country. Only problem I can foresee is, if there's no EU control over us....does that mean that George Osborne can shaft us even MORE with no Brussels to intervene?

Nobody on either side is saying Britain wouldn't survive outside of the EU. But if you don't think unrestricted access to the Common Market for the past 40 years is part of why the UK's economy is doing so well then you're just not aware of how international economics works. +kharn the betrayer O Thankyou :) I'm an English man without any nationalism in my blood at all, despite having a family tree back until the days of 1066 :) Nearly all my closest friends in UK are immigrants from all over the world, and we ALL support leaving the EU because it's a terrible idea. The EU is what is forcing false stereotypes, via uncontrolled immigration plans, destabilising common sense and the peace. Leaving the EU is simply saying, Europe is a beautiful place, stop trying to change it. We have so much culture among all our diversities, but the media and elite politicians are destroying the word immigration, by making FLOODS of totally unreasonable numbers to specified locations across UK, causing absolute chaos... and yes we all know what happens when we send our pathetic Prime Minister out to an EU debate to speak common sense... He is sent back home tail between legs, with rejections to any proposition the useless coward makes based on the peoples desires. We have already far more proof than we've ever needed which says the peoples opinion under a superstate is void / irrelevant, and any future resolutions will not be finalised locally for anything of great importance. We may as well all become Mircro-chipped and proceed with Zombie nation the very next day if we don't end this madness asap. (It would not surprise me in the slightest if that was the very next part of EU's people monitoring steps. Lets leave the EU, and really unite Europe by working together independently, without shutting out the rest of the world like EU's sick plans to become a superstate. WE WERE GREAT BRITAIN BEFORE THE EU.... WE WILL BE GREAT BRITAIN AFTER THE EU.

+JULIE AFFINITA I agree Julie, in fact only 2 weeks ago did Obama say ''We consider it a major National security issue that you have uncontrolled migration into Europe'' See the Q&A part of his recent Brexit speech. Particularly his body language when he says it. Seems to have been missed by Vote Leave. Kendall was all over his Trade remarks, Vote leave should be quoting him too.

A fantastic debate, Dan as always was superb. Great to see the majority of the audience was for Leave, just as well as the comments on this video, lets hope this is the nationwide consensus. #VoteLeave

+kandy kandy But do you say that because you were already a vote OUT person, or do you think many other people, regardless of voting intention, would say the OUT side came across better?

+DidyDoddie I think you have a point there 'confirmation of bias.' However, trying to be as neutral as I could (I'm a 'Brexiteer') I think the responses to points raised were by and large stronger on the Leave side. Having said that, I would have liked a little more interaction between the group, especially when things got a little 'hot.' Passion in politics doesn't have to result in insults, but it does indicate to us voters how much they are invested in what they believe.

+kandy kandy I think you need to re-read my post. "I think the responses to points raised were by and large stronger on the Leave side." By all means disagree, but I think to 'Rubbish' a post, not having grasped what the point was is rude. If I were a "Remainian" that style of comment - would only engrain my stance to leave. Too many people are still undecided. I am trying to build bridges - and then speaking less harshly about the LEAVE. Accepting someone else's point as valid is the first step to a conversation. It doesn't mean I agree with it, but it has merit. That doesn't stop me later dismantling that point. Not everything has to be confrontational.

ECONOMY: Once out of the EU, the UK will trade on the open market. Google "WTO" or "World Trade Organization" We DO NOT have to be part of any trade agreements (Like the EU) in order to trade with other countries, and the trades which we have right now with the EU will almost certainly continue anyway due to our trade deficit. What does that mean? It means the UK imports way more from the EU than it exports. Therefore, if the EU puts higher tariffs on our trades it will hurt them more than us. The scaremongering about having to pay higher tariffs is completely false. Google "Professor Patrick Minford" who is an expert economist and watch his videos on Brexit. Also, we are paying a huge membership fee to be in the EU which we can retain and reinvest in our NHS and other areas which are being starved of oxygen. DEMOCRACY: EU regulations and regulations influenced by or related to the EU accounts for 53% of all UK laws passed in 2009, a percentage which is growing year on year (thought to be around 60% in 2016). UK voters have no ability to change these laws. While we can vote in and out new governments, there is nothing those governments can do to alter EU laws. That is undemocratic. fullfact.org/europe/uk-law-what-proportion-influenced-eu/ SECURITY: The EU is a trade area. It is not a political or military union. Our security comes from NATO. Our intelligence agencies work in conjunction with other intelligence agencies within Europe (and around the world) regardless of our EU membership. Also, the greatest threat to the UK is coming from our borders, which the UK has little control over while part of the EU. ISIS has openly admitted to sending jihadists through Europe posing as migrants and refugees. It is possible for them to patriate in any EU country. That time period ranges from 3-5 years depending on the country. At which point they can travel freely into the UK where we are powerless to stop them as EU citizens. Once out of the EU we can control who comes into our country and we will be safer for it. Immigration can be a good thing and we will continue along this tradition, but with better control. Russia will be no greater threat to us, for we remain in NATO; the true source of security in Europe. IMMIGRATION: Immigration can be a good thing, as I have already stated, but too much of anything is bad for you. We cannot build homes and schools fast enough to keep up with immigration. Hundreds of thousands of immigrants enter the UK every year, forcing house prices up, filling class rooms, clogging transport and draining the NHS. We love immigration, we love Europeans, and people from around the world, but there must be a reasonable level. Right now, the levels are unreasonable and they are having a negative effect on our society. Once out of the EU, the NHS, schools, house prices can all begin to recover and the green pastures of the UK can be saved for future generations. Out of the EU we will regain political freedom, we will be better off financially, better off in terms of our security and better off socially. It's a win, win, win..all we have to do is VOTE LEAVE.

Ryan Beet Super rich corporations stand to benefit the most from being in the EU. That includes the media. Even the BBC receives millions of pounds from the EU in grants. With so much clout behind them, the remain campaign has a huge advantage, but we have to keep trying to get the truth out there to as many people as possible.

France and Germany's motor industry will be crippled if we leave. Lets not kid here, they will move for trade agreements because they trade with us heavily. Who'll pick up the slack if we leave, Albania? No. Also, it's funny how after three failed pro-EU predictions we're still expected to believe the IMF and other fiscal institutes. Or the Treasury who the Chancellor in 2010 said "don't believe Treasury reports, the Chancellor messes with them"? Again, no. A fragile Eurozone and an EU with growing Euroskeptic viewpoints does not need Britain to leave, not even slightly. If the EU/Euro collapsed it it's a massive financial headache for the likes of the US etc. It's a lot easier to push to keep the status quo even though it doesn't work. Lets also not forget that the Euro to which we are tied has entered numerous recessions since 2008, nearly collapsing itself with economists wondering how long it could continue. Yeah, I think we'll be fine out of the EU.

I'll give the remain one thing though during this debate. They didn't call anyone racist for once haha Usually if you disagree with the remain side, they will call you racist, even if you're an African English lady, whose lived in UK for 2 years, and support the eu leave :) It's no longer about what people want clearly, or who you are... If you disagree with the elite who are threatening humanity with the eu superstate pointlessness, you're wrong in their eyes, because it doesn't benefit their pockets or plans, and they do not care what you want. wonder if cameron will be calling any more visitors such as Obama to tell UK how to vote in the coming referendum. Bad bad moves prime minister. Wish we had a pm we could trust :(

+Indie Infidel i agree, i remember there was a huge uproar when a british politician commented on how americans should vote on a bill (i cant remember all the details..) but imagine if you asked the american people to join the same currency as greece.. Imagine if you asked them to allow free movement to 500million people, some of which are from impoverished war hungry countrys. They would tell you to fuck off, the single most disgusting thing that has happened so far in 2016 is obama telling us how to vote and that we'd be at the back of the que. our soldiers fight together, our soldiers die together.. Fucking disgusting.
