Machines: Frame-perfect play Speedrunners: I can beat that These in-depth looks at SR strats and the mechanics behind them will never cease to fascinate me.
@lanceknightmare2 жыл бұрын
High level play of Monster Hunter revolves around manipulating the invincibility frames inside of the 2/10ths of a second which can be raised as high as 6/10ths of a second. The guard strategy in Devil May Cry requires 1/10th timing. I should mention that the perfect run of Ninja Gaiden as well as the walk on the bottom of the screen trick in Super Mario Bros. requires 1/15th. Tetris players have exceeded 1/20th and higher at this point.

@@victoriousf.i.g.3311 Well, optimizing the Apocalypse is a skill curve ahead of my level. Joseph Salee in Tetris, Werster in Pokemon/Sonic etc. will be the ones to optimize the Apocalypse. :D

I don't know how the developers made this game in under two years almost 2 decades ago and it's held up this long with more secrets being discovered. If developers cared this much nowadays games could be truly amazing 🤯🤯🤯

Tbh I I could never get into speedrunning, most games get dumb at some point or other, a long escort mission with an incredibly dumb noc that runs into death every 2 minutes, a part in the game where the devs tell you to grind some task or other for hours to proceed or at least to proceed without dying from every little mistake, new enemies that are incredibly trolly or downright cheating, etc. and that's when I usually put the game on hiatus until like feel like it again which sometimes can be years but often just means I entirely lose interest and drop the game entirely. Dedicating tens of thousand of hours to replay the same game, even one I love, hundreds or thousands of times as fast as possible with every mistake costing dearly and causing frustration is something that would be hell for me. On the other hand I *love* watching entertaining speedruns with cool tricks and glitches and watching videos about the history of a specific speedrun, etc.. So glad others like the stuff I'd absolutely hate so much speedrunning is getting ever more popular, when I first heard about it like 15 years ago it was still pretty niche but nowadays for most games youtube suggests speedrun as search term the moment you enter half the name.

This was one wild ride. I love that speedrunning communities can keep games alive long, long after they would fade into obscurity otherwise. Thank you for all your hard work and fun you provide for us plebs.

Great video but felt like the commentary and editing didn’t match up. For example you explaining “zips” while saying “and this happened” but the scene of the zip was shown on repeat, the commentary lacked the desired affect. Also at 10:53 “he was messing around and discovered zips” and then silence and you show the zip at 11:21 while my dumb ass thought I already saw the zip. These are very very minor critiques but amazing, informative and entertaining video. Kudos for explaining your set up for the sand blast zip, very easy to digest.

What I find funny is the superhuman reaction speed, finger movement speed, and memorization ability gamers have. Think about it 1 tenth of a second and then there's the guitar hero pro players. Sounds like a comic book and I love it 😂

Is there an archive with many of the strats used in both these runs and style videos anywhere readily available? I've been at the DMC 3 grind trying to get SS on all difficulties for 200 plus hours at least, with only DMD left, so it would be nice to see any information new to me. Mission 4 is the pits.
