Seems strange to have this labelled as a post mortum as the game was unreleased at time of recording
@Alex_ADEdge6 жыл бұрын
You can do a post mortem before a game is released - its about analysing how the development went and how the end result turned out - not necessarily what players think of it or sales after release. Also plenty of play testing would have taken place by the time this video was made. Plus half of the video/post mortem is related to both the new and original anyways.

really enjoying how over-exposed and blown out the lighting on Derek Yu's face is.

I still get goosebumps when I hear Derek talk about Aquaria. So many good memories with that game. Derek and Alec really did something magical there, and I honestly think they helped raise the bar for a lot of other indies.

I didn't play Aquaria until the second humble bundle and yeah, that game is beautiful.

Spelunky is SO good. One that I will definitely always go back to

Spelunky HD is one of my favorite games ever :)! It was really fun to watch this.

If you’ve read the spelunky book or watched the recent noclip documentary about spelunky(which by the way is better than this)... Don’t bother watching this. There’s nothing new. I like Derek but he seems to only tell the same story over and over lol But I’ll let this one go because the talk is from 2011.

Ah thank you very much! Had no idea that noclip put out a documentary on spelunky!

TIGsource. It was a game-development forum run by Derek Yu a while back.

How about not have a totally unnecessary over-exposed webcam feed in the bottom right actually obscuring parts of the slides next time?

Holy crap dude, calm down. This is a free friggin video from 6 years ago.
@AthensHorseParty7 жыл бұрын
"Calm down?" Don't project your own anger issues onto other people, dude. Whether the video is old or not I'm sure whoever is in charge of video production at GDC can handle basic feedback without getting their feelings hurt. You know audience feedback is a value part of improving your content, right?
@AthensHorseParty7 жыл бұрын
Also they'd probably appreciate it if you showed your appreciation for their channel in another way besides harassing people in their comments section that leave legitimate feedback.

No need to apologize man, but I appreciated it. Take care!

maybe you should run the gdc video production

At the time it certainly was. As far as roguelites, in 2011 we didn't have Risk of Rain, Nuclear Throne, Don't Starve, Rogue Legacy, Enter the Gungeon, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Enter the Gungeon, maybe not even Isaac.

I never liked the Spelunky HD remake. I enjoyed the gameplay additions most of the time, but I really disliked the new art and music and there was something about the way the new game over screen worked that made if feel a little flow-braking for me.

I felt the same way at first, but it grew on me eventually. I still play Spelunky Classic regularly, though! I LOVE the original music and pixel art. So good!
