the spicy meal was foreshadowing to the amount of thirst we were going to have for the estinien scene. None of us were prepared.

In terms of the “Fire” Zero mentions, I believe it’s more than just trust she feels: I think it’s faith, belief, a sense of love and comraderie; she’s remembering how it feels to truly be human again, even as a Voidsent

I like how Estinien works out with his hair down, and then puts it up for casual wear. He likes being a hot, disgusting mess.

Dimensional instability from the initial moment of the Flood of Darkness seemed to open up a tear into the rift for Zero to fall in. That lines up with what we know about the nature of the Thirteenth and the effect it has between the worlds.

Question: WHAT is that caramel drink that they serve at the Meyhane (best seen at 5:27)? I've been trying to figure it out but I have no idea what it's called DX
@agavadamn7 ай бұрын
I’m fairly sure it’s not caramel drink. It seems like it may be mango lassi which would be very chilling considering they ate spicy curry! (I know this comment is old, catching up with Terra’s videos now that I finished my own MSQ). Have a great day ahead!

They are indeed mango lassi, and I crave one every time I see that scene.

@33:30: Not true. Tataru and Estinien are not Archons. Arenvald nor F'lhaminn, either. Not to mention the plethora of side characters we've all but forgotten such as Riol, Hoary and Ocher Boulder, Coultenet, and many others. It was a large organization, we just had the Archons as the leads.

Even when Zero attacked Zeromus that was a sort of homage to FF4. In a scene, Golbez used a crystal of light but was unable to hurt Zeromus because he was too aligned with the darkness. Only Cecil, the main hero, a paladin, aligned with the light, could use the crystal. What's the class in this expansion? Oh yeah. Paladin. Anyroad. Golbez in FF4 largely fought with magic. This Durante/Golbez uses a sword primarily. Loved your reaction to a certain dragoon without a shirt. You did turn red in the face.

Terra: "My body temperature rose like 5 degrees..." Everybody around Terra: *Dying from exposure to record temperatures registered in human history* Tera, buddy, your body temperature didn't rise 5. It broke the thermometer. You were the meme of the person dropping in snow and instantly vaporizing it, leaving a hole of their shape.

2:15 Elephant down! 3:25 For the girl was atrophied taste buds consuming curry that kills even the brave is a hilarious take. 5:40 "Dude, if he's in his outfit, in his loose shirt I'm done for." I'll match your hot and raise you five. 6:24 This is the end of Terra. 7:44 "The intrusive thoughts are trying to win." They're not done yet. 8:35 And there it is! 12:05 Makes sense. Norvrandt and Eorzea are almost identical to geography to one another. When we went to the First we were west of the Crystal Tower in Mor Dhona. When we arrived on the First we were west of the Crystal Tower in Lakeland. 15:34 I knew we were joking about this patch being the death of Terra, but at this right it might actually be. 23:55 That moment when you're talking about your boss's ass when he's standing right behind you. 27:10 Sorry, just finished mine. I'll get more. 33:40 ALPHA! ALPHAAAAAA! /screams 39:25 Yup, that's why the world fell apart. Even the heroes trying to stop it didn't trust and work together. So they all fell alone. 52:10 Poor supporters. They were not prepared. 53:10 They're all like "you do it, no you, no you do it." 58:22 Makes sense. If the shards and the Source are being drawned to one another the power of stasis would be needed to... ahh sheet. Does this mean without Hydaelyn the shards might eventually rejoin all on their own!? 1:08:00 Every streamer I've watched has said the same about her voice. 1:12:10 Yet another comparison between Esti anf Niddy. Both tactless. =-) 1:40:50 So that's why Durante took Golbez's armor and name. To keep his memory alive and make his friend a hero in history.

Maybe it's just me but I felt for the first time like Vrtra was staking his claim with that 'no, he'll make himself presentable...NOW' in essence, commentary. XD (Edit: Also, I may be alone, but I really get super ACE vibes from that 'are we supposed to disrobe too?' from Zero and less that she was looking. As much as I want to ship Zero X Jullus, she kinda made me feel more my Ace selfness with that reply than anything. And I love that about FFXIV, where yon can interpret the same cutscene about fourteen different ways.)

Not to get all political, but I found the Garlemald storyline in this and the previous patch really jarring. The whole vibe seems to be "glorious Garlemald was betrayed from within but its honourable leaders and brave soldiers stand ready to guide it to greatness again". Nevermind that these are the same people who, at the very least, stood idly by while Garlemald merrily committed one war crime after another. We're supposed to feel sorry for Garlemald (not just ordinary Garlean civilians, but the *country* of Garlemald), as if it has suffered some unfortunate natural calamity rather than having gotten its comeuppance at the end of a long series of genocidal and imperialist wars. When I (a German) first got to Garlemald in 6.0, I felt like it was a pretty effective if sanitised metaphor for a traumatised post-war Germany. Now I feel like it's very much grounded in the Japanese memory of WW2 and occupation as a terrible injustice caused by nothing in particular. Left a bitter feeling in my mouth.
@Leffelini Жыл бұрын
I feel like we are suppose to feel for the people of Garlemald but still see that the country/state has a long way to go because the people are still in this state of being brainwashed. They are basically the Omicrons - we have to attack because if we are seen as weak we will be attacked instead. Also the people have been through some horrible things from the tower, even if the country has done horrible things, the civilians have not (in the context of actually going to war and killing people even if they have been okay with their leaders doing it). But its like saying any country in the west deserve tragic things happening to them because I don't think there is any country that have not have a hand in any wars (selling weapons, sending military units etc) even if the people in those countries haven't. I mean, sure, thats a take some people do take, but it just serves the purpose of being okay with more people dying.
@karlrassmann4604 Жыл бұрын
Actually a super fair point. If we were to take a more Western approach, I wonder what we'd see... Maybe the Eorzeans recognize that the remaining Garlean leaders enabled or contributed to atrocity, and put them on trial? Garlemald being officially declared dead and gone and a new nation with a new name taking its place?
@Ren99510 Жыл бұрын
The entire country was manipulated into becoming the destructive force it was from the very founding. But the people who are left still need an identity, still need a country. Every single person who ever lived there, alive or dead, was betrayed by its creator. So yes, I think we should feel sorry for the people and the country they abide in. Like Limsa, once the great pirate capitol finding a new purpose in trade and artisanry, so too must Garlemald find a new purpose in trade and industry instead of conquest. I mean what's the alternative, take these people who have lost everything and go 'wow sucks to be you anyway come be refugees in our countries or stay here and starve and die i guess'
@EnricoDandolo1204 Жыл бұрын
@@Ren99510 They were led to it, yes, but that doesn't mean they are not culpable. The people of Garlemald are not innocent of the empire's crimes, they were the ones who committed them. Even the ones who never took up arms, while not guilty, benefited from Garlean crimes and share responsibility and should be confronted with some tough questions. Sweeping all that under the rug and keeping the exact same elites who led the Garlean empire before its fall in charge -- which is what 6.4 ends up doing -- is, to me, an injustice at the very least. IRL, Denazification in postwar Germany was a highly flawed process -- the Soviets basically abandoned it and said everything was fine, while the western Allies quickly ran into the issue of needing to reestablish a strong, prosperous Germany in the western camp. A lot of war criminals, party elites and willing followers went unpunished, with their pasts covered up so they could continue to run the country and its elite institutions. Institutions like the Wehrmacht were valorised and sanitised in the 50s. Even so, what Denazification there was -- both in the immediate aftermath of the war (forcing civilians to rebury concentration camp victims, showing footage from the camps, putting the worst offenders on trial) and in the subsequent decades (especially in the 60s) -- seems to have been both successful in preventing a recurrence of fascism (at least until the 2010s) and necessary in establishing the facts. Obvious disclaimer that it's a game and I'm taking it way too seriously, but I feel like the Garlemald arc really does reflect how right-wing Japanese politics and media excuse and distort both their country's wartime acts and the subsequent occupation. Japan was never forced to go through the same process of historical reckoning, and (in my perspective as an outsider) it shows.
