The American Spirit looked good considering that she was all full of ice on the railings. To the Captain,Crew of The American Spirit thank you for what you do while working and guiding that beautiful ship. Have a safe voyage and Happy Holidays

The sea smoke was intense. That was just a biting cold, even the fences were frosted on deck. Great capture.

I watched this vessel half the night on all the live cameras throughout the harbor. Seen it fold in it's conveyor, then creep away for the loading dock, slowly making it's way through the harbor, under both bridges and away she went into the dark, cold night.. Cool watching it navigate through the harbor on all the live cameras.. This was a nice video too!!.. Thanks for your late night of filming and sharing with us.. 😉 I see the GOTT is scheduled to arrive around 9:30 tonight, so I'll be watching for that beast too.. Love the nighttime arrival & departures.🙂

Maybe she’ll be covered in ice! Guess we’ll find out. I love watching them cross the harbor, the cams are super useful for seeing them in person too

You know it’s cold when you can hear the crunch under foot 🥶your filming style makes it interesting. Really appreciate this! Can’t imagine heading out in the dark into the blackness of Lake Superior, but love watching👍🙏

@@margaretyoung4262 😂 thank you! I was pacing the pier, trying to keep warm. Couldn’t zoom in and out with the gloves I had on, this was challenging. Very worth it though!

I agree with Margaret! I can't imagine heading out into the blackness either. Props to the old timers who sailed that blackness without GPS, radar, sonar and satellites to guide them!

It's hard to believe that ift bridge is 94 years old in 2024.

Definitely! Doesn’t seem that old. And the outer structure is much older even than that!

It's kind of hilarious to think that she was temporarily a straight decker once. It must have been a nightmare for the crew and the offshore workers to unload her

I still would like to know what happened. Wonder if the pin connection at the hydraulic cylinder break? Or was it the cables? Amazing that no-one was hurt

Would have been right around the time that the Hullet unloaders were taken down too, not sure what kind of condition they were in at the end but can’t assume it was good.

@@scottburns2600yeah I can’t find any clarification on what exactly happened but that’s rare, especially on a new ship.

Wow! She's a lowrider, alright, especially for this time of year. 😮 I watched 'Big Walt' McC lock through the Soo 5 hrs ago, and there was no ice on her bow at all yet. You don't have any snow? We've had 3 feet dumped on us since Thursday, but the ground isn't frozen yet.
@jonathanellsworth212 күн бұрын
Some light flurries, we did have some that didn’t quite cover the grass but it mostly went away. Part of it is Lake Superior, it created a warm bubble around the city up until about 3 days ago and the big snows went north along the border

de-icing spray for ships like they have for planes?
@jonathanellsworth212 күн бұрын
No need really, planes need those exact surface shapes, ships not so much. Probably makes them slightly less efficient but not enough to go through the hassle and expense of de-icing. Not sure about the deck though
