So that's why, back in 08, when I visited Duluth, the Vista Star boarded on the harbor side of the bridge. I vaguely recall someone saying something about the bridge, as my dog and I walked across on our way over to Canal Park. At this point, I can't remember what the comment was (85 year old mind, of course). I enjoy watching your videos of the canal and Aerial Bridge, but this was a fun one of a different side of Duluth. Thanks for sharing it.

11:04am. The Captain and crew should be proud of saving this ship from further disaster. I think of the men & women who rose up every morning to go to work assembling such a large cargo ship. The hard labor and dedication to their craft speaks well of the efforts made. They should all take pride as to how long this magnificent vessel did its job. A testament to how well this ship was built and others like her. God bless all the captains and crews operating these massive cargo ships. An example of what has made America such a strong nation. Thank you. Hopefully it can be repaired enough to be sea worthy again.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was a big ship as well and she's at the bottom now. Some speculate that her length may have been part of the reason she broke in two. The Great Lakes can be just as rough as the open Ocean.
@jonathanellsworth212 күн бұрын
@@FishnChips136 wasn’t the length, the Fitzgerald would actually be smaller than the Great Lake’s average size today. There are a LOT of ships larger than her, none have had any issues like that
@FishnChips1362 күн бұрын
@@jonathanellsworth21 Probably true but , I was referring to a documentary that supported one theory the she broke in two because most of the keel wasn't supported by water while both the bow and stern were. It was all about wave heights and spacing. No one will ever know for sure.
