Flicking is better when in enemy territory because paints further away from you so you can quickly form a trail to swim in (safer than rolling). Rolling is very situational only done after missing the target with a flick at close range. Flick and immediatley start rolling cuz doing another flick might give opponent time to react cuz of wind up.

idk about this game but back in splatoon 2 the chat logs between pearl, Marina, and cuddlefish in octo expansion were actually changed in English to have cuddlefish say like racist things to octarians. The same can be said for Marie in splatoon 2's story mode she has a lot of mean and harsh remarks towards octarians that aren't present in the JPN version. I think this game's translations are accurate, but needless to say the english translations aren't always accurate to the source material and a lot of characters differ from their JPN versions quite a bit.

The term your looking for at 8:30 is sub strafing. Its done by holding the sub weapon button down. Swimming, then letting go and re pressing squid form to change direction without losing as much speed.

Actually the captain used to be agent 3 and they were the player character in Splatoon 1, they just got promoted from agent to captain, and agent 4 was the character from splatoon 2

4:05 the Octarians are a race of octopus that include the Octarian soldiers and both playable and non-playable Octolings. The Octolings are their original form, and are much like Inklings anatomy-wise, while the octotroopers and the other non-humanoid enemies in story mode are severed Octoling arms that were given sentience (don't ask me how)

It’s implied that the tentacles are autonomous because they’re octopi. Octopi have large amounts of neurons in their tentacles, effectively giving them minds of their own, even when severed. However, they’re not using the full brainpower of the whole being, meaning rank and file Octarians are pretty dim bulbs.

4:06 That's... actually right. Octarians can reproduce via severing their own tentacles. Octolings are the most advanced, which each less Tentacle, intelligence decreases. The basic Grunt Octarians and Octoballs are the among the lowest tier intelect wise, but are still sentient. Their faces are formed from the suckers on the tentacle.

You may or may not have been able to figure this out, but DJ Octavio was the final boss/main antagonist of the first two games’ Hero Modes, so seeing him as the first boss and immediately out of the running for main antagonist was pretty big for veterans. Think the intro to Super Mario RPG

Love you vids and super stoked your continuing with Splatoon! I can not wait until you get to the 6th world, I literally had a stroke when I got to there. Tip from someone who has finished it, you can 100% each hub area without beating the story, you just have to use Howard(good name) as your bloodhound to sniff up the treasure anchors(those metal fan things with the red lights on them). On your map it will have some parts highlighted green and that will give you the general location of what you need to find. Last thing, make sure you take a look at all of the lore you get, especially the logs, they are pretty interesting.

Choc, the reason you don’t shoot at the ground to cover turf is because your horizontal shots drip ink as they travel, so you cover a wider are by looking forward and not down. Plus, you don’t have to look all the way back up to hit enemies; you’re already looking at them.

In case you're wondering about the Octarians, their lore is that they reproduce by being the tentacles cut off of other Octarians. Sometimes they end up being capable of growing more or becoming an Octoling. The more tentacles, the smarter. It's like if you cut off an arm and it grew a face

As a Splatoon vet, this is honestly neat to see tldr Everyone’s just excited to see you get up to snuff so that’s why peeps givin tips looking back and seeing how bad I was during Splat2, you’ll definitely get better with time, motion controls or not (heck I haven’t utilized squid rolls and jumps too much yet) (I also use sticks because I currently gyro is not very applicable to handheld, and that is the only way I’m able to play on my switch atm) If you like a weapon, stick with it, but don’t hesitate to try out new ones Each weapon sorta has a “role” be it frontline, midline, or backline, but honestly just play a weapon that you’re comfortable with, and play it however you feel like! That’s the beauty of this game, things just work out sometimes c:

Capp’n and DJ Octavio are veterans of The Great Turf War, a war between inklings and the octarians over dwindling land. Capp’n is also Callie and Marie’s grandfather. Also having a lot of your color is definitely not a bad thing. It offers mobility, as you are much faster in squid form than humanoid.
