I love how the ants in the opening scene are caught in a death loop. That's exactly what the game is. A death loop. There's no getting out. You are trapped by your own foolishness and failure to recognise what is wrong. Just like how the ants are trapped by their own failure to recognise the repeating trail. Welcome back, Mr President.

In case anybody doesn't know, a deathloop (in reference to ants) happens when an ant trail gets old and faint - any returning ants using it will replace the pheromone trail with their own, strengthening it - while also exploring for where it leads. If there are ants behind this leader following and strengthening the pheromones, then the leader ant (while exploring every which way for known scents leading back to the colony) may double back, following their own strengthened trail ad infinitum, leading to an inevitable death. Other ants will be attracted by the faint trail leading to the deathloop, and strengthen it while following it, entering the loop. That then leads to a secondary exponential cycle, where more and more ants join the loop and strengthen it until the only ants left are praetorians for the queen - the others have all starved trying to return to the nest. Sorry if I explained poorly or rantishly, passionate people usually do.

But I've paused a couple of times (despite that I HATE that kind of stuff), and I'm trying to figure out what's going on with the corpse's right arm/hand. Is it missing its arm or hand? Question for you. What's to stop the player from just preemtively going back downstairs for every floor? Is there any kind of disincentive to stop people from just cheesing their way through? Seems like a neat game otherwise, though I mainly watch horror games, not play them, so my input isn't totally the most informed. 😅 Edit: Then again I guess if the goal is to be scary that happens regardless of if someone cheeses the gameplay mechanic. So maybe it doesn't matter, guess it just depends on your particular goals with the game.

There's one where you're going through different train carriages, But instead of turning back when you see an anomaly, you're supposed to turn back if the train carriage is normal, and if you see an anomaly, you often have to avoid it in order to continue going forward

There's something symbolic about the premise of the game; how as the character, when we see an anomaly we're told to run away immediately, and when we don't see it (or, figuratively, ignore it and move on anyways) we're haunted by the evil creature and lose health/sanity. Then later we find out we're playing as the deadbeat father in the dark story of a mother and her child who she just wants to protect. Super different from Exit 8, but so cool!

Mark seemed to be missing a key feature of this game compared to the others. This time it is not one continuous loop and instead of going back like in the station or train car ones and continue going, you go back down to remove the anomlay and then continue. This means that after the annomaly is removed, that floor is safe. This gives an opportunity to refresh your mind on what the default state of everything is, which Mark didn't seem to pick up on and utilise. He also suffered from the stanndard psychological manipulation a lot. His view always drawn to the centre of the room each time and not looking to the things on his left as often as everything else. Also complaining a lot about no meds and yet instantly turnning around in the 'safe' anomaly room that may have had it spawn :P (although since it's not an anomly itself, maybe it's safe from the room resets)

I love this story, I honestly thought it would be like other games similar to this with simple scares and you just repeat until you finish the game. But weaving meaning withing the symbolic figures and the story will click like a puzzle at the end with every meaning within the floor layout. Very interesting and I did get nervous and goosebumps. I mean who wouldn't like a nice jump scare. But to feel the slight shivers of whispers and knowing you can't turn back time. I am all for it :)

So the just of the story, is that a father was drunk and ended up killing his own wife over a dispute, and he killed himself after that, leaving their babies fate unknown. I love how games like this give us a story that actually ties into the gameplay, and its atmosphere. It’s very creative and smart. 😀👍

God this game genre really exploded over the years, First it was "I was on Observation Duty" with the whole spotting the anomalies and then it got it self some Clones. Then now we got "Exit 8" with its whole Anomalies spotting but kinda being inside a Loop, with now its fair share of Bad and Great clones like "Shinkansen 0" from Chilla and kinda this now as well. In the right hands I cant wait to see it expand a bit more
