Great videos, Karl. I had trouble with a straight stroke; now I do the right foot in line with the shot and it makes a big difference. Keep em coming...these videos are very helpful.

I've been working on this for over a week and find I have a much more consistent straight cue stroke when I square up, just like you just showed. Thanks!

Thank ya lord! A pool player who actually gave his height. Im 6'3 and ive always wondered if maybe i was too tall to adopt a more squared snooker stance. I would very much like to adopt that style since its more fundamentally sound.

These videos are simply great! Recently switched from the side-on stance to the snooker stance. I use the uncool walk in :)

Hiya Karl, I'm really enjoying your channel. Keep up this direct and informed advice! One tip I think you could add here is how you have a slight knee bend pop straighten with the step, straightening as you go down. Most professional snooker players I've watched have that too. I think that's really important actually because it makes the movement a lot smoother, with less of a lurch effect as you pivot your torso down over the right hip. Just a wee thought there from me.

I'm 6'1" and as an American player was originally taught the sideways stance you're not a fan of. I switched to something closer to what you have and it definitely helped me cue straighter. I had a few questions. (1) do you keep your back leg locked at the knee or do you have a slight bend? (2) How far forward is your opposite (left) leg? Hard to tell from the angle in the video. I've been using a decent amount of bending at the knees which helps put less pressure on my lower beck and neck.

Thanks for this video. I’m not a freak. Lol I’m right handed and left eye dominant and shoot left handed as a result. I always shot with a square stance but all my buds at the pool hall shoot with the American side stance.

All these stances require some sort of flexibility I feel, can see some back issues being caused by standing like this tbh

Karl love your voice lol. Legendary. I line up my shot almost like a football kicker. Or is that soccer by you?🤔 Anyways I go behind the object ball see the angle then slide myself over to the cue ball in steps and step into it. Trying to find a preshot routine was really difficult and that's what I came up with. Stance is extremely important. When I miss I always feel as if my stance was off. Like I was wobbly and not balanced. Its not fun practicing your stance when you just wanna pot some balls but it's an essential part of the game. Thanks Karl!

@@KarlBoyesPoolLife How did it start? At the cup or??? I have to admit even though I'm from the states I really really like watching the Euros play pool. There is something different about all you guys that make you guys total bad asses. I would fear playing a Euro player way more than a state's player. Much respect to you and all your brothers and sisters.

Died at how "short people" was said. Good vid. You simplified it. I think American pool players go sideways for power. Balls are bigger than snooker and Irish 8 ball so more cue power needed. Just like how you'd turn sideways to power a break.

Hey Karl, thanks for the video. Concise and informative. An additional question. When you use your more traditional snooker stance, do you also utilize the chin and chest points of contact with the cue as snooker players do?

@@KarlBoyesPoolLife *Clears throat* Well of course, I totally agree that would help, but it takes a long time to go from looking like Mario He to looking like Albin Ouschan… During that process, us fat guys still want to play the best we can, even though there are hinderances. I’d say that Mario He can still play some good pool, even if he isn’t an Albin Ouschan, wouldn’t you?

Great video Karl as usual 👍🏻👍🏻How you recommend keeping the cue straight on power shots? Do you draw back slow amd the accelerate on follow through? I always seem to miss long pots even when my stance feels solid..I’ve been told I twist my wrist but can get out the habit any advice 😩😩😩👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🥳🥳🥳
