Long before the man of iniquity will appear and his mark will be implanted in those who lack any love for the Truth, his spirit will rise over the world and it will even be embraced by prominent men in clerical dress. The enemy of man's salvation works incrementally, patiently associating with, then dialoguing with, then infiltrating and finally obtaining internal submission from those who love the world and all that is within it. The extent of his success can be measured by the degree of assimilation of his spirit, which by another name is secularism, worldliness, Cross-less "Christianity," bereft of ascetic struggle, an opponent of the prophetic voice of the Saints, a stranger to the narrow way, at the service of this world.
The enemy is a liar and an ape of God. He has no originality but mimics what he sees the Lord doing. He strives to create his own Ekklesia, a pseudo-Church, with pseudo-bishops and pseudo-theologians, and he fashions a "traditional" movement which is on the cutting edge of the overturning of Holy Tradition in the Church, all in order to forge a "unity of religions" in spirit and outlook. The enemy knows the worth of symbolism and rites and he uses them well in order to communicate his messages subtly, almost imperceptibly, at least to those who are spiritually subdued.
It is imperative that all lovers of Christ and His Church remain watchful and prayerful, mindful of the days, which are evil, and the signs of the times allowed by God for His faithful.

If we pray, read daily scripture and of course repent often we will have God's revelation revealed to us and guide us from evil.

Our interpretation is based on the witness and teaching of the Saints, the Holy Ones, the illumined ones by the Holy Spirit. We do not speak from our own reason but their vision. Remember that “the road to hell is paved with the best intentions,” and, “the path to hell is strewn with mitres (episcopal headgear)” (St. John Chrysostom). We do not doubt anyone’s sincerity. It is almost irrelevant. What matters is whether or not the stance is consistent with, inspired by, flowing from the witness of the Holy Spirit in and through the Holy Fathers of every age, who are guided by and inspired by our Lord Jesus Christ.

Two comments, questions: Patriarch Bartholomew started many years ago as very clearly Orthodox but now is becoming ecumenical in the negative sense (according to Tradition). Secondly, this straying from the Traditional Christian awareness and ethos by hierarchs and laity is very obvious to millions, but not so to others. Why? An analogy comes to mind for those who do not see this; there was a black and white photo of 'something' that was not obvious at first sight. After awhile of staring at it, the jumble of shapes resolved very clearly into the face of a black and white cow. From then on, one could not help but see it quickly. Once we 'see' the truth, we can't forget it, before that event we can't get it at all. The same problem is obvious with the American divide between Left and Right, Democrat and Republican, etc. No one listens to the other sides.

John is the only one who mentions an anti and he told us it is anyone who rejects Christ come in the flesh and is God....I think your following Protestant dogma on this one as they await things to come which came and went 2000 years ago...or am I missing something?

@@OrthodoxEthos Thank you I will as It's good to hear other view points. I am 90% preterist though as I definitely believe most of revelations has happened and was wrote for the early Church against the Roman emperor Nero and the land Beast Jerusalem.. I believe 10 % is for the future coming of Jesus.. The bible I believe writes in past present and future terms and unlocking that code can be daunting... I don't believe there is a man coming called the Anti Christ but rather a movement away from Christian values and men falling away from Christ to become lovers of self.. but not a leader as such. Have you heard of the Divine Mercy? the Church has given it full approval and it is Jesus telling the world tpo prepare for his second coming... anyway I will keep an eye out for you take.

What is most important when we approach the holy Scriptures is to not trust ourselves and our viewpoint but to put our trust in those who have been proven and shown to be friends of God, to be made holy and set apart by God, like the apostles themselves. We have a saying in the Orthodox Church, taking from the holy ascetics in the desert of Palestine and Egypt,: “if you have yourself for a spiritual guide you have a fool for a spiritual guide.” I hope you’ll join us then. @@OrthodoxEthos My teaching comes from Church fathers and learned men many of whom are in a vocation to the Church.. I'm not protestant I don't lean on my own understanding. Look forward to it.
