As a Canadian and someone who happens to have done brief stints in both American and Canadian jails/drunk tanks, I can tell you that Canadian correctional officers have been taught about this experiment and the whole culture there reflects the lesson learned from this experiment. Can't say the same for American correctional officers, although I only experienced them in Florida but still.

You have to realize that in LA COUNTY jail alone they are 2500 inmates that are awaiting trial on murder/manslaughter charges.. not to mention the 1000s of other inmates awaiting trial. Our population is 10 times bigger than Canadas. More people=more criminals=more inmates, more stress, more guards, more guards that are aholes.. it's just the odds

In Highschool I took an AP psych class and had the coolest teacher who had us doing all types of trips and experiments. However, we were the last class able to do them because of parental complaints and other teacher complaints. Primarily the other teachers were upset over the experiment he had us do which was to stay up for 3nights straight and log our experience. I guess some classmates were falling asleep in other classes and doing poorly on tests. But that was sort of the point. We also took trips to our state penitentiary for both men and women. However, the day we went to the male pen there was a stabbing incident right before we arrived, and so it wasn’t the full experience. It was still scary as they had us dress down upon arrival and take off all jewelry etc… and as we walked down the corridor they were catcalling us through the bars and this loud blaring alarm came on followed by a series of clicks and the guard told us it was “feeding time.” It was such a wild experience honestly. Made me terrified to never get in trouble. We also were nearby the now closed prison that had the countries worst prison riot.

@gart9680

@@resolecca England is a country. The UK (United Kingdom) is a political State (in construct, the same as the old Soviet Union), consisting of several countries, but, it all goes back to Anglo/English control over its neighbouring countries. Britain/British Isles (which the English use to refer to all Islands, including the whole of Ireland, off the coast of Europe) & Great Britain are basic Anglo imperialist geographical terms, used to marginalise the social/cultural identity of, principally, Scotland & Ireland. Language is control. E.G. The unionist population of Northern Ireland refer to themselves as British. But! Factually, Britain isn't a country. It's a fascinating method of control. Westminster, the English parliament, which is the seat of UK power, utilises the phrase, Great Britain, as an ideological and cultural tool of identity to represent the Union of Scotland and England, but, once again, it's about control. *In practice, culturally, socially and ideologically, British equates to English.* We see an example of Anglo imperialist control with the Westminster UK government's refusal to allow the democratically elected Scottish devolved government to hold an independence referendum. Keeping in mind, the Scottish government came to power running on a mandate to deliver said referendum. It's all rather creepy and sinister.

I've been to prison a few times (all be it in England) and something is off with the experiment. Apparently they all had clean bills of health including mentally. Now I suffer from a plethora of mental illness' and if they all went mad that quickly whether the guards or inmates there is defo something wrong with them in the head OR I think they were spiking the water with LSD or the whole thing was a work... And believe me real jail is a lot harder than what they went through. Btw I'm going from both films about it, so u haven't watched the podcast yet, so maybe I'll learn something.

Holland is North and South Holland. These are 2 provinces that are part of the Netherlands. Not the same at all. It is only the Anglophones that call them Dutch. As usual it is the fault of the Brits. As we all know, the German word for Germany is ‘Deutschland’. Now, for the British everyone who spoke a Germanic language was one and the same. This resulted in the British calling people from Germany and the Netherlands both Dutch. Just as ridiculous is that the people from Deutschland became German

The ethical limits of this study were woefully ignored. It's a terrible example of how to run a study/experiment on several levels. This podcast is going downhill. I think jim forgets the reason people watch this show, FOR HIM. As nice as he seems the kid and forest are a wierd combination and fit for the show. The kid is just goofy and gives the vibes he plays guitar around the campfire everynight and forest gives the vibes he has a few dead cats in its basement. In all seriousness the core jim jeffries fanbase likes the dark unhinged humour that jim provides not this wierd faux-family vibe. P.s forest you are a producer for a podcast not an editor for an emergency broadcast, let jim flow with his jokes as it is probably more interesting than half of these shit topics anyway.
