Yep. Especially considering how there is an IRL Megastructure Concept that matches up with it pretty well; the Stellar Engine. Only difference is that all of the matter stripped away from the Sun is going into creation of ships as opposed to propulsion.

Not only does it look great, it's without a doubt the most practical superweapon in the entire franchise, aside from maybe the World Devastators. Why waste an insane amount of resources blowing up entire planets when you could just drain a single star to pump out enough ships, droids, & equipment to conquer the entire galaxy?

Potentially it could make Death Stars or at least similar weapons in mass quantities. You could even make other things. In SWTOR one of Revan’s journals said he was a fool for thinking only to use it to make fleets. When you could use the technology to make one’s own Galaxies.

This looks promising, indeed! 0:46 In this scene where the ships’s engine is starting, it needs to be slower and shows the starting process. It should be 1- starting with heating up, 2- the air coming from engine is hot, so there will be what called “heat haze” or “heat shimmer”, 3- The fire will start to appear gradually. Above all, it is beautifully done ✨

But, the potential destruction caused by it, albeit indirectly, could rival any Death Star through the near limitless fleets and droid armies it can produce. Excellent animation! I love the detail of the shipyards and of course it's great to see Revan and Malak when they first find the Star Forge before Revan cuts off his jaw. However, I do not believe the Star Forge would be at Abo's pole... There is no way for it to cast a shadow on Lehon if that is the case, which one of the Elders complains about when begging Revan to destroy the Star Forge. After way too much worldbuilding of the Lehon system, a Star Wars fanfic writer and myself concluded that the Star Forge likely orbits Abo at slightly less than the distance between Sol and Mercury in our own solar system. Because Lehon is the fourth planet in that system and for it to be habitable, the planets would need to be tighter packed than they are in our solar system. Presumably the first planet, Iwar (appropriately named), got cannibalized to build the Star Forge, or the Star Forge is in one of its Lagrange points... in which case my bet is L3 since we don't see Iwar and it's an unstable enough spot for the Star Forge to immediately start falling toward Abo when its stabilizers are destroyed. Then, given that the Lehon system has more rocky planets than gas planets, it would imply that their system has less total mass than our solar system. Which then means Abo is a lower mass star, most likely a K type star (awesome that you made Abo a redder star, though in reality that would hardly be noticeable without dimming most of the star's light or looking at what it is illuminating), which then allows tighter orbits to make more sense and that then explains how the Star Forge can cast a noticeable transit shadow on Lehon like how Venus or Mercury do on Earth. I'm not at all suggesting that you redo the entire animation with more accurate worldbuilding, but that would admittedly be pretty epic if you did decide to do that.

That's a fair observation and impressive attention to detail. We could say that small planet we see at the start orbits above the ecliptic meaning the forge isnt at the pole ;)

@@jaw1002 I suppose that could work... but it does also cause some other issues and implications regarding the initial formation and evolution of the Lehon system. Generally in our solar system the only objects of note on extremely elliptical orbits are out past Pluto. Haumea comes to mind, but it's still no where near elliptic enough to transit like that and it'd also be too far out for the Star Forge to appear distinct from Abo. For it to be closer, possibly one of the 5 rocky planets (or 3 if we exclude Iwar and Lehon), then it'd have the potential of severely altering the orbits of all the other rocky planets or be subject to getting altered by them. Either way, it like wouldn't be great for the long term stability of the entire system. It'd also raise questions as to how it got there. It couldn't have formed there cause everything else is in the ecliptic... a collision, capture, or gravity assist maybe could work for how it got there, but it's extremely unlikely for it to end up in that kind of orbit where it'd be stable enough to not disrupt all the other planets or be disrupted itself. That's why these types of things are usually at the outside of a solar system where the star's gravity is weaker and there are also far fewer other objects to interact with it. Technically static satellites (statites) are possible even in our universe, so it's entirely possible that the Star Forge doesn't orbit Abo at all, or orbits it on a very artificial polar orbit. Though the chances of casting a shadow on Lehon are basically impossible if it's on a polar orbit. It would also include the same issues that a planet on a polar orbit around Abo would have, but those issues can be dealt with by having the Star Forge course correct if it's tugged out of it's polar orbit by the other planets and it likely doesn't have enough mass to tug any of the planets out of their orbits. The only question left is whether it would need to be on a polar orbit or if an equatorial orbit would work best. Given actual Star Lifting proposals in our reality, I can see it going either way. Of the 3 methods I'm aware of for Star Lifting, 2 of them eject matter through the poles and 1 through the equator. Although all those methods require multiple structures around the star, and since the Star Forge is clearly the only satellite involved, it cannot be operating on any of those principles. Most likely it's using some type of a tractor beam or potentially even Force pull to directly draw matter toward it rather than heating up the star or messing with its magnetic field to then create a solar wind in the desired directions.

I do remember in SWTOR the Sith Empire recovers a small fragment of the Star Forge and it is slowly rebuilding itself. Wouldn't be a hard recon and would make a lot more sense than the current lore.

They could have brought it into canon and the fact that it's not canon means it doesn't have to have been destroyed. The cool thing about canon is that it can borrow elements from Legends without adhering to everything established in Legends...now if only Lucasfilm was ran by competent people instead of crazy ideologues.

If Lord Revan had built nearby space stations to house operations and security personnel, controlling the Star Forge via intermediary droids under Sith command, it could've been sustainable. Once you mediate the Dark Side corruption, it's basically a source of limitless material resources, perhaps even men if you can channel those materials into building orbital cloning facilities with proximal greenhouses whose crops convert inorganic matter from The Forge into organic biomatter to feed and incubate armies. If Lord Revan and Lord Malak had played their cards right and waited a few more years before attacking the galaxy, they'd have an inexhaustible war machine.

Alright, so here's why that probably wouldn't work well. Only Force sensitives can control the Star Forge, so using droids to continue using the Star Forge would be impossible. The only approach would be to force the Star Forge to create factories that'd replace it's manufacturing capabilities as you suggested with cloning tech. Although I would also expect the Star Forge itself could make organic things as easily as it can make inorganic things. However, I expect the Star Forge has some degree of sentience... most likely it's only semi-sentient but it could be fully sentient. Either way, it could resist making anything that would replace it. Possibly by directly refusing to comply, but more likely by corrupting whoever took control of it into no longer wanting to make it obsolete. There's an amazing fanfic titled "The Fall of the Infinite Empire" by dentedpat which I strongly recommend reading. It shows off some of the corrupting influences of the Star Forge itself and how it is basically an eldritch horror in its own right. The other concern is what would be the endgame for the galaxy becoming dependent on the Star Forge for everything... it's pretty great as a temporary boost, but we all know there's nothing more permanent than something temporary that works great in the moment, so eventually the entire galaxy would depend on Star Forge made devices which the Star Forge may or may not have the ability to compromise in some way... and what would happen if the Force sensitive who's controlling it all decides (or is convinced) to turn against the galaxy. Suddenly everyone's cheap supply of manufactured goods, food, medicine, droids, etc disappears.
