I'm like yourself Jon, I don't play the game and have no desire to either. I buy and build these kits because I love to build Star Wars models and FFG are producing kits of subjects that have never been kitted. The kits well detailed and fit together well and good fun to build. So anytime they produce a kit I don't have, I grab one. I'm currently waiting on a Wookee Flyer and Dwarf Spider droid to arrive that I've ordered.

My friend has picked up some Warhammer models that he's too terrified to commit to painting, and I told that if he likes, I'll pick up the AT-RT and try to learn with him, so this kind of thing could really help.

That sounds like a great project together! What a great way to help your friend out. Show him a few of videos, and tell him "Look, if this idiot can do it, anyone can!" 🤣 Thanks for watching and commenting - happy day to you friend!

I picked this up for my first ever figure painting and will probably start on it this winter after I acquire all the materials I need. Very excited to start on it! My only question about the tutorial is what type or brand of primer did you use? Thanks and look out for that ostrich!
@JonBius2 жыл бұрын
I generally use Tamiya, Citadel, or Vallejo rattle can primers, or Badger's Stynylrez through an airbrush. I don't actually recall what I used on this one. You may want to watch a video I did about priming, and it can give you some ideas: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2TVdp-EZdOKgNE The key point is you definitely want to prime, and I recommend modeling specific primers. You can't go wrong with Tamiya rattle can primers if you get down to it. Have fun with the project - it's a great kit! Thanks for watching and commenting!

How do you protect the “dust”? always look out for that ostrich
@JonBius2 жыл бұрын
There are several ways to do that, though as is usually the case, there are some caveats. Pigment fixer can be used, but it may change the look, color, and/or texture of any pigments. If that's accounted for in application, it works great. Clear overcoats can fix pigments in place, but they can have the same caveat - because they are liquid, even if just a fine mist, they can alter the pigments. but they do lock them in place. Just leaving them as they are is also an option. If they're not placed on a model in great quantities so they're blowing about, they will generally stay in place if not moved about. However, any excessive movement, or any handling, can result in some loss or movement of the pigments. But, if set on the shelf for display and not touched, they retain the look they had when originally placed. I've used all three methods, depending on the situation. It's definitely a good place for experimenting with it a bit, and seeing the results of the methods listed above. HTH - thanks for watching and commenting!
