@@blazingsword2578 He's a creepy Nice Guy who does nothing but complain. He hates his profession, he hates the valley, and he makes that very plain. Unlike Sebastian and Abigail who complain because they're clearly young and want to see more of the world, and who have positive things to say about parts of the valley, Clint is an adult who has nothing positive to say, at any point, ever. When you're at 8 hearts with Emily, regardless of if you're dating, he says 'You win' like she's some sort of prize, not a human being. His only friend, in the entire valley, and he only makes an effort because he wants to date her. I say this as someone with anxiety: That man does not just have anxiety. He is a tar pit.

Also I'm also a person with anxiety and I also was too damn scared to talk to any of my crushes. The winning her probably meant ger heart and tbf that scene definitely looked like you could be dating if I'm remembering it correctly so it's not hard to see the misunderstanding

@@blazingsword2578 "Winning" her heart is still the problem. And it's absolutely not something you would ever say aloud, especially to the "rival". Unless you thought statements like "you win" are reasonable statements between men in regards to women, which they are not. It doesn't matter if it looked like an intimate moment or not. The very act of saying it is messed up. I'm not blaming him for feeling stuck in a deadend job family ties put him in - plenty of people end up in the same situation and can't leave because of finances or lack of transferable skills. The issue is that we see no other side of him, even at maximum hearts, than a complainer. We're all allowed to complain. But when it's all a character ever does, canonically, then people aren't going to like them. You're allowed to sympathise with him though, I don't want to imply you can't. Edit: I wouldn't consider him "too old" to learn a new career. He's probably in his mid 30s, debatably early 40s. That's plenty of time to learn something new. His anxiety and depression making him too fearful is more plausible

Some of them are actually older than others! I know that Emily, Shane, Elliot, and Harvey (+ maybe Leah) are definitely the older romancable NPCs compared to the Sams and Abigails. Because of that, I believe that Emily was in her very late teens at the very least during her first outing with Sandy.
