Wanted to get some mmo action and decided to not hop back into GW2, but instead go back to wow retail after 14 years. 2 months in and i am already kinda regretting it. I am seeing myself jumping back to gw2 soon regardless of the state of the game, its just better, it feels like an mmo. Wow feels like a well deisigned mobile game.

Personally I enjoyed Gw2 and played more before End of Dragons. WvW and PvP was never a main focus, but it should get more attention regardless when Gw2 was more enjoyable. After EoD something about their vision of the game is different and I'm not having as much fun anymore.

I agree about something changing after EOD. but I truly can't have objectibe view, because a lot changed in my life since EOD, and I quitted the game right after the expansion and cameback just now. so it does feel a little nit foreign to me because all of the new content that has been added. but like.. when icebrood saga has been added, which I was also away at that time, I didn't feel that same feeling. quite the opposite. Idk. but the point is- I do feel something different. I still have fun, but I never really has been done with the game and done everything in it(I didn't even do all of the masteries of POF and HOT lmao), so I am not a player that "completed" the content and watched the game changing. it is more of a feeling of inexpirience player which played the game and now feel a little different about it and don't know if it is because something changed with him. or the game. or both.

To me the most problem about GW2 is the fact that they "Ask". It's just like a classic relationship. When you Ask what's going on instead of having an observation time by yourself you show that you lack empathy to the other or that you simply dont pay enough attention to the reactions. Dont get me wrong asking things is not wrong in itself. But when you ask tons of targets (PvP players, pve players who want to PvP, WvW players, pve casus player, pve raid players, comestic players) you ask to noone. When you Come to the statement that you dont know the players who spend 15hours weekly (when it's not waaaaaay more) then you just waste your Time. I think that the lack of investment of the devs THEMSELVES in their different gamemods lead to the fact that they dont know what's going on. CMC about capping a node as 5 in conquest "i highly recommend that strategy in conquest" ???? To me you cant be a dev without having fun in a part of your game. It's just like in sport industry. If you never practiced the activity in a way that you understand the 'maccro" logic then you're just useless and your pov has no value at all

I have no idea about game-Development but I heard a few people saying that if you learned IT or computer science stuff the worst decision you could make is to go into game development. So yeah becoming a Game-dev is inherently passion based. However if I talk with other people about upcoming games some of them very often say: ' I hope it is not a Dev-Team that just comes in to do a Job. ' It came up a lot when we talked about TitanQuest. So yeah... I am kinda' hesitant because I still believe Game Development is mainly Passion driven but some studios with their games very often prove me otherwise.

@@YounesTraining Yep that is very difficult. In many modern MMORPGs the world feels dead because years ago the main idea was to tell a story through the world (small quest hubs and what not). Now... everything is told through cinematics the world is irrelevant. I honestly believe the main issue is that games are designed based on metrics and numbers which show what works instead of a Dev-team trying to bring a vision to life ...through a game. I mean yeah it is new in some sense but a lot of people will feel alienated and think to themselves ... what the heck is that. AoC and Phantasy-Pixel-castle could be an example for how it should be but those games are 5-7 years away.

I think anet is in love with, and overly influenced by, certain 'content creators' who obsess over minimaxing, hence all the 'balance' changes. Honestly, its the constant 'balance' changes that drove me away from the game. Also, so much of the GW2 content is about maximising your gold per hour. I don't care about gold any more. Its barely relevant to me. Far FAR more important is LPH. LOLs per hour. But there aren't any content creators who focus on having fun in GW2, hence anet aren't really interested in it either.
@reburox
@reburox 8 күн бұрын
hmmm.. so I am not sure when it happened but I think every Gaming-Development-team works very close with 'content creators'. Partner programs are basically a thing everywhere because you can easily reach more people. However in reality they are not really aiming at that one person on top they aim for the whole community which could be interpreted as catering towards one specific person. But at the end of the day if you are arenanet where do you look for feedback? on reddit? only artwork. on KZbin? Only a summary of metabattle and snowcrows builds or people telling you the top 10 ways to farm gold. So yeah you might as well just stick with what you have. I would like to see more interesting discussions on reddit but I don't think that will ever happen. Guild wars 2 is a gold farm simulator ... unfortunately.

You can´t say there is none who plays for fun, like Laranity has fun in what she does, and Vallun tells in his videos often enough that its about having fun and enjoying what you do. to be quite fair - I don't think with all these overly negative videos about gw2 you'll get a huge target audience still playing gw2. I get you want the game to be more oriented to how you enjoy the game, but for that you gotta find similar minded people in the game and make the content you play into what you enjoy, at least that's what's been keeping me playing all this time. I haven't done many raids lately, but as someone that has played pvp almost every day for the past couple years, I can say for sure that I enjoyed the push pvp mode, it's been a nice change of scenery. I wish they had kept it simpler and hope they add more stuff to the maps so you can't see across all of it as soon as you get out of your spawn. Sure, the new mode doesn't fix the issues pvp has with the low player base, at least for now, but I don't see any fix for this anyways, considering how hostile the pvp community is to new pvp players. If I started playing pvp now I'd never want to play again either if I get cussed out every few matches for playing "bad" as someone new to pvp.
@reburox
@reburox 8 күн бұрын
No. I think nowadays KZbin-Gaming is mainly focused around providing information if you try to grow your channel in case of gw2 that is basically a short version of information you can look up on snowcrows or fast farming. My main intention is to provide something that is non existent in Gw2 because people who are upset with the state of the game just leave. And to prevent that from happening in the future their should be a place or something where people can provide criticism. That's why I don't really go heavily into a specific topic I just give input. There is nothing wrong with a view of gw2 being a perfect game with some flaws. However if everybody on a ship wants to see the sunrise the ship might tip over.
@pega7550
@pega7550 8 күн бұрын
I get that, positive criticism is always hugely appreciated, I previously watched a video of yours with ideas to make pvp better, which I really liked, it had a lot of good ideas. But saying "nobody asked for this" doesn't really work as criticism for me. As soon as I saw Anet saying we're getting a new pvp mode I was shouting from the rooftops "yes please, pvp needs new stuff", as were many other pvp players. We probably would've been just as excited if it was just a new map, but a new gamemode altogether is even better. I think they have a forum to put criticism and bug reports and all that no? I would've assumed that to be the best place to leave some constructive criticism (no rants), since that has the highest likelyhood to be picked up by a dev. I haven't posted on there for ages though, so not sure how it is now. The line between criticism and opinion based rants is very slim though, so I'd imagine anet going very hard to keep the rants away, those don't really paint a nice picture for interested new players after all, especially if those are not based on stuff the devs can't fix (like low player population in pvp) As for the youtube audience for gw2 - it's true, there's always a big target audience for guides, because these kind of games always have a lot of new players trying to get information, it makes sense that gw2 content has a big market in that, since people frequently leave and return without ever getting into the deep end of the game. But I think some of the biggest gw2 videos are also just meme videos, take Lara's raid videos or Noxxi's meme edits for example, maybe some of Hizen's older meme WvW videos, Noody still makes similar ones as well, those are all fairly known across the dedicated playerbase. The fact that gw2 has so many different playerbases kinda leads to a fractured audience, so you're only really getting "the WvW community", or "the raid community" with a specific video, which leads to low viewer count. If the ship is built to be stable it doesn't matter how many people stand on one side, it'll never tip over.

@@pega7550 when you place the small ppl in front the bigger ppl can see the sunrise even a bit further away !! Somtimes a new view is all it needs and i agree with you, this video doesn´t feel like input to think about it feels like talking bad a game and continue to play it for .. more rants? There are a lot split up comunities in gw2 like you say In my opinion, when anet wants to please one after another they would need years to do so, since there are a lot of small things that could need a rebuild/fix in one way or another. I think the best what they could do now would be to rework the lvling experience, since this is the part with the most problems for new players, most players i know who "survived" that state come back regulary or never left to begin with ^^

The issue with the PvP is that most of the playerbase on Gw2 do not care for it. And I wouldn't say it's because of Anet not doing update / change to it, to me it's mostly because Guild Wars 2 was not that much advertised as a PvP Mmo. Sure at first when I was watching beta or alpha (I don't remember) videos of it I saw some PvP one and the whole WvW hyped me at first, but still I was mostly attracted by the PvE. And sadly for the PvP content I feel like the playerbase was mostly interested in PvE as PvP player stayed on Guild Wars 1 (as it seem to be better overall), so from that point the playerbase was more a PvE one. Also something that might also explain that is nowdays there are Mmos that mix PvP / PvE gameplay very well and I feel like if a player want to find it's love for PvP it just won't be in Gw2 so the playerbase will stay PvE oriented. These PvP players might even goes on other game genera like FPS / VS Fighting / MOBA and such. I feel like most of the feedback about the push mode were that it's a good thing for new pvp player as it doesn't require that much thinking, it's just a push the payload thing

i agree with the new players aspect. Bu i think every MMO basically suffers from that to an extent. The MMO-Community is just SO big and everyone interested in MMOs, has already tried out the top dogs so to speak and found their MMO. But the White Knights (in every community) like to turn a blind eye to problems and are quick to say stuff like "play something else", "Doomer Take" and so on. Problem is, People follow that avice eventually. WoW SL was such a case f. e. Every WK kept telling those with criticism to just play something else and when the people left in large numbers, everyone was acting surprised. Same with GW2 tbh. I regularly read on reddit, why GW2 is not more popular. Because the community likes to dismiss everything Players from other MMOs have as criticisms and even dismiss critcism from their own playerbase. And it is not exclusive to just GW2. It's a problem with every MMO out there.
@reburox
@reburox 8 күн бұрын
It was never really about my criticism. The thing with overwhelmingly positive gaming communities is that even if they would like to see you disappear they still agree with you to an certain extent because they have to stay welcoming in some sense. Which means it is more about the comment section than my video itself. its a cool way to trick people into provide at least a little bit of genuine honest criticism. But yeah like I said my future videos will contain gw2 stuff but I remove my videos from the gw2 section I really think Gw2-youtube is meant for guide content and people who watch gw2 stuff on KZbin don't really want to talk about the game other than 'yeah I like that build too.'

As for dead, the *actual* definition is not as relevant as you'd think -- it's going to vary depending on person to person, of course, but the fact this game has lived through multiple periods of either maintenance or maintenance-like update cadence, and has an upcoming sequel in the works does not inspire much if any longevity. You clearly haven't been playing that long and are comparing the world to new release games before they die because GW2 is in a better spot than it's been in a while. Just because you believe that Push doesn't address any issues doesn't mean that's the case....it addresses a lot of issues, mainly the complexity of sPvP matches....so many people think they understand the problem when they don't and on the surface level there are definitely some issues that need to be addressed but this is one of the main issues that they needed to address first and they are....whether you understand it or not it's a great step forward and shows that they are indeed listening and that they are trying. WvW has issues, of course, but that is really just that they need to iron out the placement of people with their new system so that there is a better mix of big guilds, small guilds, and roamers.....again...it is not in the best place and the change didn't address anything *yet* but it's still possible for them to get that right if they can get their system ironed out for that. The issues for WvW that are deeper, however, have nothing to do with the restructuring and everything to do with having goals and meaningful impact for smallish groups and roamers, along with rewards that make sense for them to make it so that they feel like the time is spent properly instead of just having to roam because they really enjoy it(which is obviously important but getting almost zero rewards isn't right). Raids....raids are fine...unfortunately the "barrier to entry" is mostly the fact that GW2 is a very easy game and because of that there are MANY that have been 80 for thousands of hours and still can't do basic things like dodge mechanics.....this in turn makes Raids even more intimidating and as a byproduct makes players much more strict on who they will allow into their group because they have already tried the whole "being nice and letting anyone in who asks" and spent hours trying to retrain poor basic mechanics while that person still can't even provide the minimum for the role they are there for....sadly this happens a lot in large scale WvW as well; people who join groups as a healer/cleanser or other integral support position only to do the bare minimum or just spam 1 the entire fight. The past 18 months Anet has done better than they ever have before with communication, balance, and overall design.....so no, people aren't telling others with "valid criticisms" that the game may not be for them...they are just looking at things from an objective and educated stance and realizing that's the case.

@reburox 8 күн бұрын
I hope you kinda get the point. Comments like yours would not exist if videos like mine would not exist (in gw2). That is the kind of criticism Arenanet needs pointing out the good things while addressing the flaws that come with it. Just sad that you can only see that if you force people into defensive stance. (However tbf if anet does something after years of nothing... I am not sure if we can call that improvement. Its more like back to default.)
@egoboost13
@egoboost13 8 күн бұрын
@@reburox I agree....they need better ways to educate their players that don't require outside resources.....the reality is that 99% of their problems is due to the fact that there's no good way for players to learn without going to outside methods or other players. I have a slightly different perspective because I have personally helped hundreds of players (yes that's not a massive number) in one-on-one situations to improve their builds, gameplay, and even just ideology behind what they are doing......the issue is that someone can be 80, play the game for YEARS and still not have a clue. The amount of people I have seen that think runes/sigils and now relics are meaningless and not worth using is baffling.....or the amount of people who just don't have a clue how/why their build doesn't work is baffling. So, while I completely agree that they need feedback the problem arises that they have to sift through informed feedback vs uninformed feedback that can FEEL completely valid to the person but is misguided.

There are so many problems with GW2 (as well as positives), but you only addressed one---the lack of communication and listening to feedback, primarily on the balance team side. It's very well known the GW2 balance team hasn't read a single response to their changes since basically HoT, and their balancing has overall been largely nonsensical and favoritistic, to the point that it drove a lot of my in-game friends as well as me away. However, the rest of the video is just pure subjectivity, and doesn't really reflect the reality for anyone but you. @@reburox I want you to try understanding the issues without a default negative. The new PvP mode might not be fun for you but at least they tried something new, and some people enjoyed it. You may think they are milking money out of people through expansions, and perhaps there is some merit to that thought (though on that note I would rather point towards the increasingly lazier/skinnier/flashier stuff put into gemstore) but they have overall been pretty successful---both their reception and financially. "The obvious" is in of itself a fair sentiment but you're misapplying it. These issues cannot be summarized under that word because there is nuance to them which depends on various variables and the subjective thought process of the viewer. The only thing "obvious" that you've correctly pointed out, and something you've elaborated on throughout the majority of the video is ANet's lack of communication with the playerbase, as there's a multitude of evidence pointing at their serious mishaps in the past that all could've been avoided were they to listen to the opinions of the people putting food on their table. Actually, that and also the attempts---sorry, attempt, singular---at fixing WvW, which has been going on for literal years now for absolutely no reason whatsoever and it's kind of obvious now they don't give a crap about the game mode.

The State Of Your Videos: Always the same crying. Who asked for Push mode? People like me, and when it's finetuned, it's gonna be fun. Yes, they need to tone it just blatantly towards being very much like Crystalline Conflict of FFXIV. And yes, me and all my friends wanted new pvp content like that. So who are you talking for? Just for yourself, you want the game to reflect only what you want. Talk about "communication issue", issue is.. you. :)

@@reburox Well, you made public opinion on the internet about GW2 content, i did just in return gave my opinion about your content. :) Why sad? In your own words it's important to take feedback (Like ArenaNet from players), so i just gave you constructive feedback. Or are we having communication issue now? Literally ANet actually taking feedback and bringing content for all types of players, new raid finally coming and also new PVP content. Like one of few MMO gaming companies in 2024 that ACTUALLY brings in content for all types of players, even in cases if the content is marginal (like endgame raiding is). And yes, we asked for that content and also we asked for more PVP and yes, i want new content for WvW mode also. And so do all my friends. So yes, perhaps can then come into conclusion that the problem is not in ANet (they are not perfect, but i don't know any perfect MMO dev studio), but in your own expectations. You seem to want just content YOU personally want, in the way YOU want it to be, maybe play single player games on a genre made for just your own desire? You do not seem to have actual MMO gamer attitude, who understands that some updates someone else is getting content THEY love, it's not just about you. Your "no one asked.." translates to "I did not ask" based on your videos. There, found your issue faster than you did yourself. Have a great day though! :)

@@Jannah_2k Well... so TLDR is basically I am wrong because you are right? I can only speak for myself but you speak for the entire player base? Because you have fun and have not I must be wrong? gw2 has problem, but your argument for pvp is clearly shows you don't play any game other than gw2. the "new" "run away node" is a well etablished pvp mode in the history of pvp games. overwatch is the prime example, ff14 not long ago also completely replaced their old pvp mode to this push the flag mode and has gotten more activity than they had before. and unfortunately no matter how people liked conquest, it is a flawed gamemode that promotes toxic build roles that will never be balanced, the reason they want new mode is so to have less stupid builds that ruin the experience for everybody. i'm saying this as a 10+ years pvper

only naive people on copium don't realize gw2 is echochambered, there's a reason the game never retains new players, they just had a recent marketing campaign pretty much fail.
