Thank you very much for offering me the chance to visit a second time the Rubens House! I lived in Holland in the past and I visited Antwerp several times... It's a very beautiful town and the Ruben House is really precious, for its architecture, the garden and Rubens workshop. The home of an artist always mirrors his personality, his taste and inner side and it's always a pleasure to discover a bit more of a master of arts

Thank you!! I only had 30 minutes free time in Antwerp between rehearsal and the ballet I conducted, so I would only see the front of the house. I am looking forward to coming back now! Thank you for keeping the balance of sharing generously and leaving some mistery there for the actual visit!!!

Merci pour cette visite commentée si intéressante. Magnifique !!! Your English is so perfect also and I loved this video. So thank you very much !

Greetings from Brasil !

An exemplary half hour of art appreciation. Instead of a biographical talk, a focus on the pictures, telling us the most interesting things about the artist. The underpainting in the battle scene, eg at 22.30 onwards left me bemused as to what Rubens was doing. While Ben Van Beneden talked about the Van Dyck apostle at the end, I found myself completely convinced of its greatness - and I suspect I might not have seen any of that without his assistance and persuasive directness.

I have toured Rubins home back in the early 1980’s and remember all these rooms and most of the paintings. Much improvements on the exterior have been made. While visiting the church that is painted on marble I noticed the side alter where Rubens is entombed in the floor. A photo display (under glass) showed his remains as the body was removed. Only bones remained but I noticed he had perfect teeth. I thought you might find that of interest.

Seeing the Master's unfinished work is such a gift to a painter. His use of grounds and drawing, the fast gestural brushwork, so economic but matter of fact...by far my favorite part of the tour...to see his mind at work...just great.
