Whoever has been working with the secondary on their tackling needs serious credit. It’s been a long time (maybe Seahawks LOB) since I’ve seen players at this level target the near hip and finish the contact to such effect. Great analysis!
@ThinkingFootball26 күн бұрын
I watch ALOT of film - I'd estimate 30% of explosive plays happen in the NFL because of bad tackling. Having a secondary, especially corners, who are good and willing tackle is a big advantage in the NFL

The Steelers dumped a literal Hall of Famer (Patrick Peterson) because Tomlin values “little men hitting.” Peterson is older but still more capable than most as a cover corner but, after losing way too much weight, he could no longer tackle. HoF or not, he was not extended despite being good for the locker room because tackling was weak. It’s why an undersized Herbig will have a long career there.

I disagree about the QB situation. Sure , Russ isn’t the long term answer, but he’s a veteran presence who is more than capable of winning postseason games. Having a QB actually LOOK like a QB was great. Haven’t had that since Ben. And Russ is only going to get better the more he plays. This team is a dark horse contender.
