I gotta work this repotting regimen into my yearly chores for my pings!!! BTW, I love, love your longer, in-depth videos. So helpful and informative!!! And BTW, the fans aren't loud at all. Probably wouldn't have noticed if you didn't mention it. :) Your voice came through loud 'n clear!!!

Thank you! I keep buying microphones and they keep dying or getting broken 😂🤦♀️ the humidity kills all electronics even when I try to seal them up! So I always worry when we’re in a microphone-less period! I’m hoping we can get back on track with long form videos this year, now that most of the huge project work is done at the new nursery!

@@California_Carnivores you all have been soooooo busy getting your new nursery functional! AND you all kept on top of orders. I wish I knew more about microphones. I know there are bluetooth sports headphone/mics out there that are water resistant. I have no idea about quality of sound recording but that might be something to explore.

You explain and teach so well. Just got 2 Pings last month and potted them up. One has a flower and both have had gnats to devour. These will keep my orchids company.

I bought a Venus fly trap from Walmart the other day and have been researching their care heavily since then. Of course I'm also learning about other carnivorous plants as well, and I've fallen in love with pings! I am grateful for your videos. Thank you so much!

If you break the flower stem from the base of the plant you can treat it the same as a leaf pull and grow a new plant.

Ah thanks for this! I need to repot and divide my little ping. So glad the flowers can stay during the process!

WOW, thank you so much for telling me what's going on with my pings!! So, I've separated and repotted everyone (9 plants plus 5 leaves that were previously crammed into 2 pots). Can I wash the old substrate/ planting media to reuse it and wash off the salt??
@California_Carnivores Жыл бұрын
I’m so glad this was helpful! I wouldn’t reuse substrate, even if you rinse it you aren’t able to remove pathogens and fungus and it’s worth it to start with clean, fresh media!

How often do u water the Pings after transplant to get them going? Love your videos. Very informative and helpful. I do tropicals, air plants, and closed terrariums. Got into carnivorous plants over last year and very addicting. Love it

In winter I water less frequently so maybe twice a week overhead but as soon as the day lengths get longer and it gets warmer I let them sit in about 1/2” of water, let them dry out a day or two between watering and water again! I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed the videos! 😄

Thank you making this videos the are both informative and entertaining. I recently made some ping seeds successfully but I need to know if they can be stored for a later date or do I have to sow them immediately. Could you guys do a video on seed storage for different plants. Also I have Drosera Regia I need to repot but I’m super nervous to do it. It has a massive root system and I’m sure it is root bound and I don’t know whether or not I should loosen the roots or not
@California_Carnivores Жыл бұрын
That’s great! You can store ping seeds in the fridge, in a wax baggie and then put that into a resealable plastic bag like a sandwich bag and we add a small silica packet. Ping seeds will have their greatest viability and be easiest to sow within the first month or so of harvesting. We successfully germinate very old seeds but I would recommend sowing them sooner rather than later!

What do you do with the old substrate? I was thinking of sifting out the perlite and reusing it for non-carnivorous plants.
@California_Carnivores Жыл бұрын
We don’t reuse our old substrate, instead we have a large peat pile in the back where we dump it and another nursery hauls it away for use. I personally will turn it into my garden beds when I repot my carnivores at home!
@Octilious1193418 күн бұрын
Do i need to give it higher humidity after repotting? Because i read that it can benefit the plant.
@California_Carnivores17 күн бұрын
Not necessarily, if you repot in winter succulent phase, you’ll want to keep it more dry. A little humidity can be nice but you want the soil to still be very dry.
@Killer_carnivorous_plants Жыл бұрын
I have a question does the repoting every year also apply to the warm temperature pings? I got a primuliflora from you guys last summer and it has a bunch of baby pings in it. It's also in its original pot
@California_Carnivores Жыл бұрын
They can benefit from it too! You can follow the 1-3 year repotting tip for the temperate and warm temperates as well!
