Have had the ms 250 for 4 years now and it's been a great saw for the size and price point. Have over 10 gallons of gas threw it and the piston and cylinder still look like new. Love the saw even took it for a basket saw for commercial work for around 7 months.

I have a MS250 I bought new like two years ago. I put the old style 025 muffler and air filter on it, adjusted the carb and it’s an absolute ripper. Also converted it to rim sprocket and installed a elastostart. Love that saw.

I love it dude! The 025/250 is probably the best “homeowner” saw Stihl ever made. I run a 7T 3/8 picco sprocket with a 16” and it rips. Can’t wait to see how yours comes out!

First saw I ever ran was a ms250 with the easy start. We used it on the farm for years cutting firewood and flopping small trees. It has easily cut over 60 full bush cords of wood just bucking firewood let alone the amount of tree it has processed over the years. That saw was abused a lot for the first few years. I didnt know how to sharped a chain to well so it did a lot of cutting with a dull chains till I figured it out. Also we did not clean the air filter to often but it has kept on going. I now own and run a tree service and it's in my dad's garage and is still used for small firewood around the farm.

I have had a Hobart for quite a while. They seem to be ok. I had a bit of trouble with the feed motor but cleaned it up and oiled the bearings and it works good now

I have the Hobart handler 140 and have had it for 5-6 years now and I love it! Still no problems and I’m just a hobbiest with it but have put it to use lent it to friends and it’s still going. I also have the ability to hook stargon up to it but have yet to do even though I have a tank. Lol but I think they are very good welders.

John, I run 24” bar on mine for my tree service (6T spur rather than 7T rim) just muff modded and the things a ripppppper…love a powerful, light, nimble saw…cheap to build/replace (not the pro saw wallet attachment) I find myself going to it for climbing, felling, limbing and bucking most stuff here on the east coast lately

I love my ms250 with stihl 04 light bar. I only use stihl premix fuel in all my saws, because I’m not running them fuel time. I did do muffler mod to the ms250.

I actually have a ms 250. I have got it for free and ported it a little, even before because of the small chain it did pull quite hard. You can't do a lot to these but they run even better after that (H and L adjustable).

I have a Hobart pretty good for $ sometimes if wire dial setting is in between numbers it doesn’t feed , play with switches , moving feed switch and volt switch actually fixed mine . Miller is my favorite hands down .

When you're filling your NOS bottles the compression converts the nitrous gas to a liquid, which allows it to hold more. Once you get to the last of the bottle there is no longer enough compression to keep it in its liquid form. So your seeing nitrous escape the bottle already in it's gas form not the liquid nitrous that is expanding as it escapes into atmosphere. But hey I've been wrong before 🤙

I've had a Hobart handler 135 for about the past 18 years I have ran around 1100 lb of wire through it 0 3 0 gauge and I use shielding gas and it's in a professional shop so it gets used at least a few times a week been a very very good welder, and I have a crazy suggestion for the turbo why not drive it mechanically off of the power shaft of the saw make it more like a centripetal supercharger

Use a 250 for training new guys and it has gone above and beyond. Opened up the exhaust, added felling dogs, square ground, maintained appropriately but it rips for what it is.

John have you ever seen where they use diesel pickup smog pumps as superchargers for smaller engines? They seem neat dunno the weight of them I had one of them ms250's was a nice little saw all I did is put 3/8 on it and muffler mod also had fully adjustable carb was a nice little saw couldnt kill it

Hobart are great welders, they are “Gray” Millers. If you want cheap gas, use CO2, tri-mix isn’t necessary.

So true! I bought a 250 that barely ran, carb kit later, holy smokes! Best small saw ever until you get to the 260. I've run mine so much it leaks gas and oil and generally looks like a tweaker saw but it still rips! I just heard Stihl quit making them(true?) So I tracked another MS 250 down and bought a brand new one!

I'm not hating, I'm really excited to see this work. My questions are: you said it pushes 2psi, was the outlet capped off for that run or was it left open? Have you ever done any sort of test to see what kinda vacuum the engine pulls in its ported configuration (and stock) cause I'm wondering, if it pulls ??lbs of vacuum at full rpm and the turbo pushes an equal amount of pressure... would it even make a change? You know scientific questions

Once you get the turbo running at the low psi, you could throw a couple hundred hp shot for a v8! I'm assuming your going to do a wet nos system. You should plumb the big tank to the saw and put the big tank in a backpack on your back, that way you got all the NOS YOU WOULD EVER NEED FOR A CUT!

The 10lb bottle is made to lay at around 30 deg with the output pointed down.They have a syphon tube inside to pickup liquid.I'm putting together my 3rd MS250 while watching this video.I just have to mount the pan on the bottom and drop it in the case.Lol

@@johnscustomsaws I think you would get a bit more liquid out before you get gas.I've mounted Nitrous in a few cars and they build the the bottles so you mount the valve forward tilted around 26 or 30deg out put pointing down and the syphon tube from the valve goes to the bottom of the tank and bends down to pickup liquid under G force.The nitrous boils off above the liquid to make pressure.tilting the bottle makes more surface for the N20 to boil off so it will make more pressure to supply large demand.Sorry for the long reply.Lol

Try vacuuming the NOS cylinder before they fill it. I know nothing about nitrous. I do know about air conditioning systems. The residual air in the cylinder will stay there. In ac systems, causes lines to freezes as well.

The 250 is a good saw, but for the same price (actually 10$-20$ less) you can get an Echo CS-4910 thats 50cc, same weight, with a magnesium case, decompression valve, and adjustable oiler.

I think you need to purge the air out of your nos tank. Propane will not mix with air in the new tank. The air has to be purged out. We typically use 100% methanol add the methanol to the empty tank just a few ounces pressurized with air, then bleed it dry the gases from the mess, and I will push out the oxygen, allowing the tank to take more propane. I am thinking there might be something similar to this with your nos tank.

ALWAYS use gas for MIG welding, or buy the flux core wire for it. downside of the flux core wire is that it smoke a ton more than welding with "external" gas. Gas protects the weld from air contamination. you get massive splatters (hurting you and your surroundings) and you get a porous weld (visible or non visible) which will compromise the weld strength. keep on improving, love the saw display, could you maybe go into a bit more as to why you feel the 880 is a let down? I know its not a hard revving saw but still I find it a fantastic saw (but heavy).

Air weight depends on air density. I do a lot of long range PRS style shooting and air density is a big deal. John you use that harbor freight chain grinder for your chain? Send me some chain and I’ll square grind it for ya on my new simington. No charge of course.

I thought the same thing mine has the adjustments also but you got to watch out for that grub screw behind the muffler coming out... I ordered a carb a couple years ago from my local dealer it came with the both adjustments and it was only $2 more than the rebuild kit
