There aren’t many drummers who can make such a range of rhythms that sound like two drummers together. Obviously Cosi Powell is one no question.also Denis Davis, who was a long time musical collaborator with friends and with David Bowie. The isolated drum track on “Look Back In Anger”, broken out of his own mix by Tony Visconti is something special. Visconti was talking to Denis’ son, who’d just lost his father. Worth a watch & listen.

I once heard Reni say in an interview that he wasn't a good enough drummer to play other people's stuff, when the Roses started out, so he had to come up his own style. Thank god!

Good to hear...and did we doubt it for a second? Nah. Its the beatmaster, Reni. He is the soul of the Roses. THAT'S what the world was waiting for. Missed the gigs but was there in spirit. Looking forward to the new chapter of the Roses myth now....a new album and proper tour.

Oh mate! I know I shouldn't rub it in, but I have to say... joint best gig I ever saw (the other was Pink Floyd in 1988). My missus and I went on the Friday, which we had tickets for... but we also went on the Saturday and sat in an unpaid area of the park with a view of half the stage, one of the giant screens and excellent sound. My girlfriend also went on the Sunday (with tickets... and her best mate). I urge you to grab tickets for any future dates, they're back better than ever!

I'm abroad for the summer so I'm missing the tour, dude. But I was so hoping it was gonna work...especially with so many getting to see if this Reni is half as good as they say. I saw some half-decent pre-heaton park gig stuff & could see he was back!! He's the engine, the soul, the groove, the glue......And we kinda also knew that age would never wilt the Roses, didn't we?! So glad the gigs knocked it out the park for you & your good lady AND all the rest of the fans who paid homage...

@jakeenan Ian said not too long ago, Reni could set just his kit up at the apollo and sell it out all week. Would be amazing just to see some footage of him drumming these days, guy is a complete legend!

And I'm still scratching my head at seeing Reni's swing again. Is this summer real? Reni as good as ever! Did it happen? Is the scratch the leg thing the sign for Tech-Support to end this program? If it is I hate you DRAGMIO....We were having such fun in the summer of the Roses/Reni Resurrection.

@knawhaddamean Ain't that the truth! Never thought it would happen. Though he did seem to question whether he still had it or should be doing it at his age in the press conference. Not sure how serious he was? Maybe to downplay it is the way to go. Of all them he has the most on his shoulders IMO. Being given godlike status as a Bonham of our generation, it'll be a tough act to live up too. But you don't lose genius like that.

9 out of 10 drum solos basically suck. It's just showing off. Yeah, we know you're great, you play 5 hours a day, you should be! The drum solos that work have Swing. It should make the audience wanna dance. Reni had Swing to burn and could've soloed all night. Would've preferred this without the filters but what a groove this guy had. Sadly missed.
