Oh yeah. And I know he makes a comment about hating the silence, but I definitely didn't. I can understand any comedian or performer being uncomfortable with silence after a joke, but here he kinda used it as a very personal reminder of the reality of quarantine. The silence gave him unrestricted access to a one-way 4th wall break whenever he wanted. And it seems we get a little different Stephen in front of an audience.

Absolutely, I agree! And I enjoyed those quarantine episodes so much, that it's a little off-putting when he complained and sometimes still complains about not having an audience during that time. His wife was great, and the show -- such as it was -- got us all through some tough, scary times. I miss that show! Take that for what it's worth. :^D 🎺 LP

Stephen, during your time in the closet, we were here at home laughing at your monologues. Your closet time made our lockdown time so much easier. I know Stephen does love “the validation of a cheering crowd” but he was at least as funny and pointed in a closet with Evie. I’m glad Seth Meyers is still working without an audience - it seems to have really freed him to riff and ramble and improvise and connect with his distanced audience in a deeper way, and a lot of us are loving it

I love Colbert. I feel bad that I only really found his show last year. I didn't watch TV much...Anyway, I just love his show. I said it twice so far...lots of love. 3X... He's great. Like a fine wine that just gets better with time. And even though some of his material covers issues that are of no laughing matter, he and his crew can make those things just a bit more bearable. Plus I sense his passion and heart in some of those very sensitive issues. He cares and that makes what he does so much better. Also I enjoy getting to see his Evie and crew... Everyone is such a precious gem. Love you much.

All this time, I thought it was a storage closet in his house! Clueless me. I kept thinking that he has a humongous storage closet in his house.

The very first episodes *were* in their basement room. Then they moved to the storage closet in the EST offices. Maybe that confused you. 😏

Nah, Stephen before he went big-time on CBS was at his finest. The Comedy Central days--the Daily Show, the Colbert Report--that was when he was really cooking with gas. I still watch this watered-down version, but it does not compare with the old days. It's like watching Groucho Marx on "You Bet Your Life" compared with his manic younger self in those Marx Brothers movies--still funny, still fun, but not a genius at the height of his game.

This feels like a suicide note, explaining to your loved ones why you chose to go back to the old format, the slow death format, and a final slap in the face to all of those who cherised you as one of the few, rare comedians who actually managed to turn the pandemic into a love song. If just for an hour or so every weekday. You are such a great and, when you have to, still an innovative comedian that has the potential of kicking this genre further ahead. Instead you are kicking the bucket. Seth gets it, you seemed to get it. The others tried their best, with different variations of not-quite-there, but you two nailed it. Never had so much fun watching your show than the last year/year and a half. This clip makes me want to go full blown internet troll. Believe me, Colbert, the best solution here is to go back to your basement or attic or whatever, and do one live show a week and make live audience perhaps feel like a special occasion and give the nation a boost on fridays. Win-win. I doubt you will ever read this, but if you do, just do as I say and who knows what new levels of greatness will follow. You have to find a balance here. This is your ticket to eternity, one or the other way. Hope you choose my way. And while I am at it: drop those second-rate bourbon jokes when you repeatedly have told us that you almost never drink anymore because of the pressure of being in perfect condition every day. Either freaking embrace it or leave it. Would not mind seeing you drunk or hungover once in a while. Better that than chasing those cheap laughs with one of the oldest tricks in the book. Lots of alcoholics out there, I presume that includes a good chunk of your fan base, so either be one or quit blackfacing us. Ah, internet rage in the morning. Almost beats booze and coffee. Love from Norway.

You don’t DESERVE to watch Colbert. His talent is wasted on you. Try that Gutfeld guy on Fox. I think you’ll find him more suited to your taste.

I'm not a professional artist, but if someone out there is, can you draw an image of "Washington Crossing The Delaware" with President Biden as Washington, Vice President Harris as Monroe (the soldier behind Washington holding the American flag), and the rest of the people in the boat being Dr. Jill, Hunter, Doug (Kamala's husband), Pelosi, Schumer, A.O.C., Sanders, Buttigeig, Blinken, and Psaki.
