Allen Iverson was a VERY pleasant, peaceful dude when I met him in Atl years ago. Such a nice brother. Media depicts him in such an unfavorable light because he wouldn't kiss their ass and play the game. Much respect to one of the BEST point guards to ever lace up a pair of high tops!

When Allen Iverson made those comments about practice, he had just lost one of his best friends. Allen Iverson is clearly an emotional guy and I think when these reporters came I and started talking about practice and not a game, I personally believe he had an emotional response in regard to perspective. He didn't care about practice that day. He lost a game and his best friend died. Imagine if somebody asked Michael Jordan about practice after he lost his father. M.J. probably would've stood up and left. Allen Iverson is one of the games greatest of all time. You don't get to that level of talent, skill, and overall ability by not practicing ever. A.I. was a surgeon on the court because he practiced.

I hate this, it's always taken out of context. I believe Iverson's best friend died that week and the 76ers just got bumped from the playoffs in the first round after being in the finals the year before. Iverson was saying my best friend died and we just got bumped from the playoffs and you guys (the media) want to talk about practice? In the same post game press conference he said no one knows the importance of practice more than me but if the coach says I missed practice then I missed practice, there is no story other than that. He said he wouldn't be where he is if it weren't for practice but that part is always left out. SMH Some players should just give the Marshawn Lynch treatment.
@lafleurR1ddl3
@lafleurR1ddl3 8 жыл бұрын
Thank you! When one of your bet friends dies and you get bumped from the playoffs in the same week, you don't have to appease anybody's idea of what kind of basketball player they think you should be. Iverson responded like a human being, not a basketball player, and for that I have the utmost respect for the man. He was always real.

He wasn't saying he hated practice . He was saying out all the things that happened to me and only me, yall wanna talk about practice. Not what i have broken my body everyday to play just practice. They never asked anything other than that. He carried one of the sorriest team in the league and he was 6 ft with no other all star to help. In my opinion he is better than any player only tieing with Michael and Kobe because he proved its heart over height and if u just fought with ur soul into the game u can achieve greatness. Stephen curry cant even solo a team with only him. He needs two or one other shooter. Allen mad respect👊🏼🙏

That's all lies ! They didn't show the whole interview. Iversion said his friend just got killed the day before and he just got knockout of the playoffs and your talking about practice. Because the philly media kept asking about the seasons practices he missed or was late for. Over and over and over so he stated what he felt. "Your talking bout practice" the media ran with a sound bite as usual instead of the whole story. I hate to ruin a good thing but truth is truth. Anybody would have said the same thing. This guy here is full of shit like most media .

The first time I went to a NBA basketball game it was the Cavs and the 76ers. I new nothing about basketball other than MJ. I was form CLE. When I went to watch the game I remember asking by dad "why is number 3 scoring all the points?" I was about 7 yrs old then. I just remember number 3 scoring most of the points and he was the smallest guy out there. Till that day on always loved AI. The dude is just one heck of a competitor.

You are completely right statistic-wise and he was an all-star player and a star player before 2003. But he was an all-star piece around Shaq before that time. He was scoring effectively and played like one of the best players in the league and should have been regarded as one of the best earlier but after 2003, he got alot more props and was regarded with higher names.
