The Story Behind Cloud's Legend | Breyer Model Horses

Cloud, a palomino mustang stallion roaming free in Montana’s Pryor Mountains, had his life documented from birth by Emmy-winning filmmaker Ginger Kathrens. As an aging stallion, Cloud sired his final three foals with mare Feldspar: Mato Ska, Encore and Pride.

I love Cloud and have watched him growing up. I like all of the classic models Breyer has made, but I feel like they should make a traditional of him! I feel like they would sell so much more for the cloud foundation, I also feel like collectors prefer to collect Traditionals over Classics due to more detail. And Clouds detail would be much appreciated.

2:45 the dun roan stallion is called mescalero he is the son of The Blue roan mare sitka (cloud's partner for a few years) and of The dun stallion shaman (bolder's stepfather).

little cloud got a new name now he's called bolder he became a dark palomino, he can be seen in the minute 3:25 near the grulla mare, red raven lost his band and became a bachelor, because of old age he mysteriously disappeared Probably he has passed away, Blue Sioux Probably Passed Away in The Last winter, sitka died because of age.

So kinda weird to be watching a video on this horse. I guess nostalgic is the better word, me and my sister when we younger down in Arizona sitting in my grandparents living room watched a documentary or Program or something about this exact horse and my sister had the Bryers of him. It's a horse I never forgot and have only just now at the age of 25 decided to look back up. I was probably 6 or maybe a little older when I first discovered this horse. It's different cause in my mind I had mytholized him a bit. He had blueish spots I remember but of course he doesn't. Still it's very cool to see something about him again after all these years

Same for me, I watched a documentary about him in TV and I got obsessed with it. Today I was scrolling through a mustang page on Instagram and they had a picture of him there and boom! All the memories rushing back. Will definitly rewatch the documentaries within the next weeks

Daniel Martinez the other foal was named flint after the rocks in the mountains he was born in.

He had many more offspring! I can name then all for you! 2001- He had Bolder with Pococeno and a filly with Queen and both mother and daughter died. 2002- He had Storm with Sitka. 2003- He had Damsel with Sitka. 2004- He had a buckskin filly with Scarlett/Velvet and the filly was killed by a Mountain Lion. Also Sitka looked like she was pregnant that year so I think she had one. 2005- He had Firestorm with Scarlett/Velvet and Funny Cloud with Sitka and she died whe she was killed by a Mountain Lion. 2006- He had Gold Dust/Dusty with Scarlett/Velvet and he was killed by a Mountain Lion too. Also Sitka died that spring probably going to foal said Ginger. 2007- He had Hurricane/Rain with Scarlett/Velvet and she was removed in 2009. Damsel (Cloud and Sitka's daugher) had a filly called Heart/Arrow. In the fall Cloud and Aztec had Hailstorm/Shadow. 2008- Damsel (Cloud's daughter) had Image who is most likely Cloud's son. He is most likely inbred and was removed in 2009. Cloud's daughter Firestorm had Incendia/Ember and she was removed in 2009. 2009- He had a filly with Fettuccine called "Windflower" and she died. Another filly was Jasmine that he had with Aztec. 2010- He had a filly with his daughter Damsel that died as she was inbred. Another filly was Kierra/Breeze that he had with Aztec. She was removed in 2012. 2012- He had Mica/Mato Ska with Feldspar. 2013- He had Nimbus/Encore who is pregnant and is due any day now! 2014- He had Ohanzee with Feldspar and Orielle with Inocentes. 2015- He had Pride with Feldspar. @@averyprice6134 That foal was Flint! Cloud lost Pococeno to Shaman and Shaman lost Sitka to Cloud. Both raised each others sons!

Could you please share the names of these eleven members of Cloud's pride? Did he lose to Inniq? I have the impression that he got Feldspar, Innocentes and maybe Aztec back for another year and then lost finally to Mescalero.

I can! The band members in 2011 were Cloud, Feldspar, Mica/Mato Ska, Krystal/Agate, Aztec, Kierra, Damsel, Jasmine, Baileys, Inocentes, and her son Lynx. Cloud lost the band in 2014 and then got them back in may, that same year Feldspar had Ohanzee, a black foal with a big blaze, I do not like why she never mentioned him. He was removed in 2015. Cloud lost his band in the spring of 2015. Feldspar went to Mescalero's band with her mother, Rosarita and sister, Half Moon. Inocentes had a bay filly, Orielle in september 2014, they are doing good now! Damsel died in 2014. Baileys is with Cloud's first son, Bolder. Mica/Mato Ska has five mares now! Jasmine has two foals, the latest a black filly named, Talulah. She is only two months old. Kierra was removed in 2012, she has a good home. Aztec, is also doing great as a 20 year old mare!

UPDATE Mato Ska became a father in 2021, he got 2 daughters : Valentina and Vesper. Innoncentes was separated from her daughter she is now with Kemmerer while Orielle is with Hamlet. Pride is still a bachelor. Encore got her son Tor in 2019 and is now with stallion Chief Joseph. Feldspar ( mother of Pride, Encore and Mato Ska ) is now with the young stallion Okomi, she got a foal called Utah in 2020 and she is probably pregnant this year !

Yes, Cloud was photographed and filmed in November 8, 2015. Ginger saw him two times in early 2016, but not close enough to get a close picture of him. He has not been seen since. He still has many relatives on the Pryor Mountains! He still lives in them!

I did read about the Sand Wash Basin mustangs, there is no "emergency", the horses are not starving and have plenty of water and food for them to survive.

@@matthewcruz7327 It is a national disgrace what has been done by BLM to our wild herds. My heart has broken too many times. I found a photo of Phoenix at the Cloud Foundation. She is magnificent! Oregon is losing more horses, too. California. Wyoming. I want to stop it. Have been trying for a very long time. The truth is just not real to people. Take care!

@@marilynwargo6288 It is! I hope the BLM stops doing those horrific helicopter roundups and uses humane strategies to manage wild horses. PZP has worked well in the Pryor Mountains. If a roundup is necessary, bait-trap on a corral is a less invasive and it is safer for the horses, it has been done a few times in the Pryor Mountains (last one in 2015). Thank you! Probably not. He was defeated in battle for his mare, and disappeared. He was 20 years old; a respectable age for a wild horse. (Jan Griffiths).
