Good call man, it's a GREAT bike. I have had mine for nearly 10 years now and I love it as much now as when I picked it up. As far as your story, sometimes you just need to get what you like and nothing anyone says matters! I got mine because it is awesome!

The Mean Streak is an excellent transitional bike. I've mostly ridden sport bikes myself, and have tried several cruisers trying to find the right one. I was instantly comfortable on the MS and was amazed at how fast I got acclimated to it. They designed it for spirited riding, and it shows.

I'm riding a Mean Streak 1600 2004. you can really lean much further in the corners than with other cruisers before something is going to rub. I do about 8000km a year in all weather conditions and always enjoy it. I almost always drive in top gear because he has enough power to accelerate. Nice video!

I'm about to go look at the same year model. I've always ridden sports bikes. Will i like it? I'm excited to get a cruiser worried about this one being my first though

This is my absolute favorite cruiser. I first saw it at the Toronto Motorcycle Show about 15 years ago. I'm currently selling my 2020 Kawasaki Z900 and I'm hoping to find the 2007 Mean Streak!

I have this same bike. bought new in 07 never gave me any problems still runs strong at 20k miles. I've had many bikes and this one is a keeper.

My Mean Streak was blue, and chrome, and more chrome. 2004-1600. It was a looker, totally stock. One of the benefits of this bike was crossing the border at Windsor - Detroit. Every month I would visit a friend in Chicago, 6 hour ride and every time I got to the border, the guard just looked at the bike, never my passport, never my license, just the bike, didn't matter who the border guard was. After a minute of staring, I just got waved through.

Very nice looking bike. I've seen a few now on KZbin that are red and black. But all slightly different. I've got a 2008 Roadliner - red. Our winter has just finished and I'm now starting to get a few rides in. I love it! Looks like you're the same.

The Mean Streak was introduced as a muscle cruiser. Kind of like you could get a Camaro or you could get a Z 28. I know that's an old school comparison but you should get the idea. I've got an 02 meanie. It's got bags yes, but they come off in under a minute. I love the ride. It's not a cafe racer but I'm to old for that anyway.

Love my Meanstreak 2008, Vance/Hines pipes, power chip, custom air filter The torque is awesome, But it is truly a very heavy bike, Low speed driving is awful. I hate the forward shifter, very hard to get your foot ontop to begin down shifting. Liked the video

Good morning, love the video. I have a Suzuki gs500. I haven't had much experience riding bike but I bought this with the intention on getting in my practice because I wanted to get myself either a mean Streak a Honda VTX 1800 or something else of that sorts on the bigger Cruiser side. I'm 6'3, 260. How long would anybody suggest me to ride the 500 before moving up to the cruiser?

I think you can move off the smaller bike pretty fast especially based on your height and weight. Just get the basics down on your starter bike: general riding, shifting, braking (including emergency braking), and working the bike at higher speeds. The mean streak is a really forgiving bike but it’s good to have your basics figured out first.

hey just letting you know....our stories ... are exactly alike well....it matched me perfectly what you said. came off an r6, went to see this and was scared as f**k ....but i took the same mentality ....what are you scared of? and bought it and never looked back. what helped is a video by motojitsu where he did a video about building confidence with the weight of the bike (when its not started just maneuvering ) was amazing after a week or two i was riding just like the r6. i recommend that video to anyone going from sport to cruiser or power cruisers because ultimately ...it is the weight that feels scary along with the 5.0L mustang sitting between your legs, thats literally what it feels like when you come off a sport bike. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWbVXnqKhqhjick

That bike is extremely maneuverable for a cruiser. It also had a boatload of power.

Hehe... I ride an R1 and it was definitely an adjustment to ride a cruiser. The throttle is way less sensitive on the cruiser and it’s definitely torquier in the lower rpm range. If I twist the throttle like that on the R1, I would be in the hospital with a coma. 😂
