Those videographers should not be allowed to post there videos for financial gain! The talking, the sound of mini feet around the small animal. You can see through reflections that there are a lot of boys out there videotaping and I mean boys because they act just like boys. II don’t say that lightly. It’s it’s refreshing to watch these videos. I’m sick a lot so I love watching them. It’s almost therapeutic and I love it. I can put them on and watch them for hours or I can put them on at night and sleep so good. Only to wake up, and watch them all over again. And I watch the ones that I’ve already watched, but there are some that I have not watched. Thank you for the hard work that you guys put in as far as shooting the videos and then coming home to edit them all the commentary comments that are put in using an informative. I have not seen a video that I did not like at all. One that made me sad was the one with Riy. That one really stood out, but also affected me emotionally and Mentally, I can somehow relate a little by not being understood. The other video that I liked was when Dopey was pulling on his brother’s private area. Dopey can’t seem to keep his self out of trouble!!!! Its so cute to see them interact with each other almost like what we do, but they aren’t boring. We are but anyways this is very long,I love these please keep them coming. :)

That’s mostly in Cambodia. Those videographers just do it for money. There’s no educational content, and if they call that entertainment can only explain why they treat these monkeys the way they do. They put these monkeys through so much. There’s one girl her name is “Kontefa” something like that but she put a whole lot of make up on the monkey full lipstick and eyeshadow and the eyeshadow was blue. The lipstick was extremely red and they thought it was funny. She also will have five or moremonkeys on her or around her. It’s sickening the way people treat God’s animals. They talk so negatively about monkeys tree, rats, etc. so why do you bother them so much?

even though he was small he seemed to be alert, very active, and curiously exploring at a few days old. His personality is calm and I can see his mom is the one being clingy when he wants to explore. Is her rank on the low side? Or has she had a traumatic loss of a baby previously? Something has her anxious when he isn't in physical contact with her or when other monkeys approach. It looks like his brother Button is a tiny one too...they are both calm and very cute. After a few visits it's quickly apparent he has some failure to thrive going on. He is small like his brother but he also doesn't seem to have a huge appetite and isn't demanding in the least. I don't think the baby made a sound more than one time the entire video either, how odd is that? How often does a baby monkey not have a gripe about something? Lol. But you can see on the baby where she holds him...around the legs and hips, which could be why those muscles are the weakest because she won't let him use his hips or back legs for more than a few steps. It could be atrophy of some sort. Also who is the other juvenile monkey that follows? It must be an older sibling, the year before Button, so mom does produce viable offspring that are well adjusted.

As some others have pointed out, even though Martha could be rough with him at times, if you go back and watch the original videos she is anything but a bad mom. She's protective and caring and allows him to nurse frequently, I just think she had some bad days here and there. It seems as though he was just physically underdeveloped due to some overlying condition and Martha did her best but also understood something was wrong. It could also be due to Martha having a low milk supply, since Bobette (her child right after Bobbin) died from lack of nutrition.

Thanks for the memories AM. Bobbin was really an odd case. He wasn’t malnourished. He had access to the milk bar, and could eat solid food. Martha doted on him a lot, never letting him out of her sight or grasp. She never let him exercise or work his legs. That plus maybe there was something about his digestive system that he couldn’t get enough nutrients from his intake, so he digressed. He got skinnier. He didn’t walk, he didn’t climb, he didn’t even make any noise. No geks or hoots: nothing! Poor little guy.
@hollisblinn79104 ай бұрын
Not true. Bobbin was a slow starter, but he was just beginning to behave like his peers and play independently when he suddenly disappeared. Martha was very protective of him because of his slow development. At the time, A.M. thought a predator may have gotten to him, or he could've died from any number of accidents.

Martha must be the most stoic and unfazed of all the mothers. Far from the more indifferent others we have watched. Looking at it from a developmental lens with these two - I noticed that we didn’t hear his “mom cry” at all during all that footage. He never experienced the brief insecurity of a moment of separation enough to cry. That exercises his little lungs and whole body to feel that brief moment of urgency and act on it. Such a unique dynamic at work.

Go back and look @33:00, imo, it appears that Bobbin's lips have a blue tint. He could have had some kind of heart issue and circulation issue. Just a thought. Martha is a good momma, over protective, but a good momma. I believe she knew that something (whatever) wasn't right with Bobbin. All of us can play armchair quarterback and speculate but I i don't believe Martha mistreated him. For the ones that have been watching AM for years, with his educating us along the way, things in their natural environment, habitat, will happen that no one has control over. It is what it is. I believe Bobbin had a good little life and knew he was loved. Like I said, all of this is just my opinion. Waiting for part II Love and hugs to my Monkey Hill Family from Virginia Beach VA ❤️❤️❤️

I’m not sure why anybody would say that Martha was not a good mom. It was very evident she had a sickly baby and the reason she wasn’t carrying him on her belly as much I don’t think he could hold on, it’s less on the baby to be on the back. I think she was a very protective mom just like we would be if we had a sickly baby. Take a look at gypsy if you want to see a bad mom.
@BrittanyBuckland-yr8pc6 ай бұрын
Gypsy has problems we don't see, or we see and choose not to look at. She has Postpartum issues and lack of food where she is at the bottom of the totem pole. She was a much better mom in 2020 with all the food from the casual feeders and visitors. Do not forget a lot of the foliage thry eat is poisonous, the macaques were brought to HK to keep that foliage out of the reservior.
@mommashawna7076 ай бұрын
@@jcboom6894 The reason a lot of us don’t care for gypsy is because she has babies and then wants nothing to do with them and also monkeys and many animals they sense what’s poisonous and what’s not unlike humans they know better, they have instinct. If they were all eating poisonous foliage they would all be dead and this is something I’ve never heard of, mind you I have been studying macaques and monkeys for a very long time.

Hi Arroz, it’s been awhile! Your videos are still great. Forgot about little Bobbin but I think he was so weak and not developing normally because he was not getting enough nourishment from his moms milk. Although she kept putting him on the back of the bus, she seemed to be a great mom.

@LilacDreams686 ай бұрын
I don’t think she’s letting him drink enough and only has one breast he can drink from. Why don’t mothers help their babies get food? The mothers never share their food either and when they toss it they move on so the babies don’t get to eat much, if any, of the edible parts that may remain.
@bradenoconnor29876 ай бұрын
Martha really likes to throw them babies kinda on her hip. And Bobbin may not have the zig zag bounce off the walls temperament... but you could see him curious wanting to check things out. But Martha seems a little overly protective with him. Anytime he tries waddling off she grabs him and checks to see if his pecker is still there. Yep it is, then pulls him in and he's not getting exercise like the others. He just needed to explore more and I think he would have been stronger and less wobbly. Poor guy, he was cute as hell!

I am about halfway done with the video but it appears like Martha was really controlling his milk bar from the 1st week. Imo that was likely the reason he fell so far behind. At least by the footage I've seen so far. She has blocked and pulled him off the nipple 3 to 4x already
@ericklein50976 ай бұрын
IMO she sensed something was off about him and decided he wasn’t worth the energy to raise. Week 2 you can definitely tell he’s not all there. Week 3 he’s riding on back and sides. @TinyHyena19676 ай бұрын
@PamPreston78 ~ A runt just means much smaller than average size (and is usually much weaker, as well). It doesn't have to be in a litter setting. Was this the year they had huge baby losses from an odd snow storm that came in the middle of birthing season? 50:55 You can see Martha has several years of offspring here, along with button being the next youngest after Bobbin. They all seem healthy and relaxed. 53:07 It is cute watching him sit and share a snack with 2 older brothers, besides Button it seems

That was the winter of 2015/2016. Dopey and Button were both born in the summer of 2016 and Bobbin came along in 2017.

Mom only has one teeth for the baby to nurse from. Why?
@hollisblinn79104 ай бұрын
Like any birth defect, sometimes it just happens. That doesn't mean they can't produce enough milk for their babies. Reddy only has one functioning teet and she raises well nourished babies.

They are all bad mothers

Where's the proof and scientific research? Please cite us the research that states all monkey mothers, and especially rhesus mothers, are bad mothers? I want to dee scientific research from you since you make that blanket, and quite frankly, ignorant statement. Yes, there are a few that seem to have some quirks and have issues. Yet, we are unsure why they have issues. For the most, though, with the 3 main followers of these troops, they have observed loving, caring, gentle mothers who have reared most of their babies to adulthood. Most of these moms have reared daughters, which, in turn, are good loving moms, too. Some of these moms are into 3 generations of well- reared babies. The few that we would call questionable (I refuse to refer them as bad) may have some physiological or biological issues, but none are bad. Also, remember, these are wild animals and know nothing of the human morals, values, or polite society rules we try to project on them. Their society is way beyond our understanding. Let's discuss some of these so-called bad moms: 1. Nora - some hate her. Others have called for her death or sterilization. Yet to do that could harm her troop as she is matriarch it is speculated that she suffers some physical ailment when her milk comes in, so it is painful for her. Maybe her nipples are so sensitive, and suckling puts her in excruciating pain. Maybe she suffers PPD. Yet, Nora has successfully raised babies to adulthood and has a successor. Is it disheartening, painful, and heartbreaking to see. Definitely, through our human lens. Yet, as a human that suffers mental health issues, there are times I know I should do something to control it, snap out of my depression, but am powerless to do so without chemical help. Monkeys don't have that luxury. They must deal with it constantly.. 2. Floffi and Fozzie - it was said that these sisters were awful as they let Bo kidnap and ultimately starve their babies. Bo is bigger, a bully, and also a matriarch's daughter. These 2 were new moms, unsure of themselves. Now, Floffi has a beautiful daughter she protected and is thriving. Hopefully, Fozzi learns and can protect her next infant. 3. Gypsy - Gypsy can seem harsh and gets babysitters when her babies are young. Gypsy is one of the lowest ranking imoms n the troop. She eats last and the scraps. She probably has to forage most of the day. IMO, what we may think is allowing babysitting is actually kidnapping. Yet, if any of her kids are in trouble, no matter the age, she is a ferocious defender of them. She plucks them, yes, but I've observed that she does this with adults too. That's her way. She doesn't allow a lo5 of time nursing, but her offspring are wonderful foragers and quit self-sufficient. Gypsy has raised many successful, surviving offspring and now is a grandmother. 4 Tina - she is the saddest one of all. People were so very upset that she raided her kids' pouches. It was upsetting to us. Yet Tina, like Gypsy is lowest in the hierarchy. She was still nursing when she did this. She needs food to produce milk. It is only just recently speculated that she has trouble producing milk, and what she does is very inferior and not good enough to help the baby thrive. Yet, she carried her babies and allowed them access to the milk bar longer than most moms do. She has succssfully raised offspring, too. These are not bad mothers. They are doing what their instincts, knowledge, experience, and training have taught them. In our eyes, it may seem harsh, bad, and yes, cruel. But to them, it's survival. It's what they learned and perhaps feel. They can't tell usand we can only observe and speculate in wonder; not criticism. They are not human. They are their own lovely, fascinating creatures. If we wish to observe them, we should do so with wonder, awe, thankfulness, and definitely without criticism and condemnation. I apologize for the rant, but I get angry at the anthromorphation and projection of human qualities on these beautiful wild creatures.
