I think her inspiration might be Tomoe Gozen or Suzuka Gozen , Onna-Bugeisha/Onna-musha (女武者) . Though seeing the unique story , we might be something akin to bounty hunter and a revenge tales .

While I am sad we are departing from Jin, the good news is that IF the game ends up being bad, Jin’s story will remain unspoiled. You can sometimes ruin a character with unnecessary sequels.

I saw it as more of a revenge type of setting similar to say Kill Bill or Female Prisoner Scorpion cause Atsu seems to have some sort of 'hit list' with her. You can see her rub the blood on one of the kanji on the sash she is carrying. My theory she may have been part of a tribe or a survivor of the Kunohe rebellion and seeking revenge for her family's slaughter.

if its dont explore the colonization of hokaido and the conflict with the ainu people, it will be an historical disservice, unfortunatly for sucker punch take a very sessitive part o japanese history to not explore properly on its narrative

I think a Western movie influence is a valid observation none the less; even like you said, it can be heard as a banjo lol. Akira Kurosawa, one of the main influences on Ghost of Tsushima and likely Yotei as well, was a massive influence (blatantly copied by as a matter of fact) on Sergio Leone. He created the Dollar trilogy using the plots of Kurosawa's two films Yojimbo and Sanjuro for his first two films in the trilogy which would go on to be three of the most influential Western movies ever, shifting the trajectory of the genre by introducing the anti-hero to these stories that someone righteous like a John Wayne archetype would have otherwise filled. The image of the Western genre in America after Leone and Kurosawa would go on to shape a lot of Japanese entertainment such as Cowboy Bebop and One Piece, basically coming full circle back to Japan. I hope it has an outlaws story like the uploader speculates. But yeah you're right the music just happens to sound cowboy-y because the instrument sounds very similar to a banjo.

What did you see woke aside from the ENGLISH voice actor? Was her hair purple? Was her nose pierced? Were her clothes terribly mismatched? Did she look uglified? All classic trademarks of woke games. Looks like the same game directors/writers as Tsushima, so cut the BS. If from the trailer you got that the game is "woke" you're just a mindless drone who got caught up in the same idea you claim to hate.
