Correction: main universe Gul'dan died in the second war at the tomb of Sargeras. We do see flashbacks of Gul'dan's death during warcraft 3 but as i just said. Those are flashbacks.

Didn't first Gul'dan die in the end of the first war after he dumped Doomhammer and left with third of Horde army to find The Tomb of Sargeras? And in Second war Ner'zhul got his hands on his skull if i remember correctly.

@@p4628 No. At the end of the first war. Doomhammer wiped out all of Gul'dan's shadow council and took control of the Horde. Sparing Gul'dan after he pleaded for mercy It was at the siege of Lordaeron during the second war that Gul'dan and his loyalists dipped out to find the tomb of Sargeras. Doomhammer sent forces to hunt him down which cost the Horde it's victory. I'm assuming the legion just picked up Gul'dan's skull from outland after the sons of lothar sealed the dark portal on Draenor's side.

So what I don't understand, is what connection does the helmet have with the Maw? As far as we know, it was created by Kil'jaeden, a demon, to contain the soul of Ner'zhul, an orc, and was sent to Azeroth from the twisting nether. We know it was encased in Yogg-Saron's frozen blood or landed on a huge chunk of the stuff, I don't remember which. Then Arthus comes along with Frostmourne, which we know originally came from Ner'zhul and his frozen throne. He shatters the throne, merges with the armor, and becomes the Lich King. Still nothing to do with the Maw so far. Arthus then encases himself in the frozen throne for a few years, mentally kills off Ner'zhul and his innocence, but not really, and starts the scourge war machine back up. The scourge being a demonic plot to kill everyone. He then goes through the events of Wrath of the Lich King. Which doesn't have much Maw or shadowlands connections, at most, it was the explanation as to where the Death Knight's mounts come from. But has some Old God connections, especially with the Lich King's death scene. Only in the aftermath. When Sylvanas jumps off of Ice Crown and onto a spike of frozen old god blood do we even see a hint of what the Maw was. And that was before we even knew what the afterlife was like or even what the Maw was. Yet some how. Frostmourne. AND the Helm of Domination always had a connection to the Maw.

They might create a Warlords of Draenor 2.0 expansion eventually, revisiting alternate Draenor in the present instead of the past, to fight the Army of the Light fanatics. Then relegating Burning Crusade to WoW Classic only, with Chromie Time acting as a phasing toggle for the past/present Draenor when you go through the Dark Portal. Or maybe some kind of Infinite Dragonflight shenanigans - either way, they WILL be dealing with this stuff for some time yes :) pity the fools.

I have had a few questions pop up while leveling. What happens to a soul that dies in the SL? Why are there animals on areas other then Ardenweald? Why is there no technology in any area? What would happen if you dug down in an area what would you find? How does an undead go to the SL and be called mortal? Just things to ponder

That ending cutscene was beautiful. Seamlessly blending the amazing hand-animated cinematics with in game character models, placing your character right in the middle of the action rather than off screen to the side somewhere. I really hope we see more of that. Especially in raid boss kill cutscenes. Looking forward to it, and just imagine the technology they'll have in another expansion's time!

The Shadowlands, as Anduin, Baine and Thrall explain in our very first intro to the Maw, before we escape to Oribos, is where all realities' souls end up. Example: Garrosh was killed on Draenor (WoD), an alternate timeline. Yet we find him in Revendreth. Vashj was defeated in Outlands. She's in Maldraxxus. Etc. There is no alternate Shadowlands; it's all the same.

Hey, I've got a question and I didn't know where to try and ask you. I was reading an article about what Dhadgar has been up to and now I have an interesting question, what is his old mentor, Medhiv, been up to? Even though he died a long time ago we see quite a lot of him throughout the years. The thing is it's never quite clear if these iterations of Medhiv are his ghost, doomed to wander the earth, or not his spirit but rather fractures and echoes of his immensely powerful magic. Is Medhiv's spirit still walking around Azeroth? Or are we going to see him in the Shadowlands? If he's in the Shadowlands, where would you speculate he deserved to end up? Or do you think there's a chance he was one of the souls intercepted and unjustly abducted to the Maw (or maybe he deserved to be there)? Medhiv is such a cornerstone of WoW lore it might be interesting to see where he ended up. Sorry if this is already known and I've just missed him while questing or something.

WoD was focusing on the fact that there have always been parallel timelines in WoW. The Infinite Dragonflight comes to mind, as well as the book before the Cataclysm expansion, where Thrall fights a version of his surrogate "father", Blackmoor. And in the Warcrimes book with Garrosh' trial: at the very end they fight multiple versions of (among others) Baine, Vol'jin and Anduin. In the entire lore of WoW there is talk of alternate timelines, only the our's is the "correct" one, the one the Bronze Dragonflight is supposed to preserve - the one we protect during the Stratholme dungeon. So, yeah, for all it's flaws, WoD didn't start it ;)

I mean there are sooo many questions leaving gigantic plot holes behind. The "The nether trancends all realitys/timelines" for an example. If there are infinite timelines then there must be a Legion Velen doesnt it? How does it work with literally the entire Legion, shouldnt there be an infinite amount of the same demons then like Archimond? What happens to the duplicates? The Problem is that blizz Made these decisions just for the "rule of cool" without any thought on what they are doing to their established universe. Same as the Afterlife in shadowlands creating simliar Problems and holes

My theory on the 3 lies: First one = We beat the Burning Legion. Nope. We crippled it. Anduin knows this. Second one = I didn't want this war. If he didn't want war he would've done things very differently. Third one = You won't succeed. She will succeed in breaking him, only to turn against Zovaal later on after she realizes what Anduin said in the cutscene No More Lies is true and he knows it which is why he said it. A last act of defiance before he's broken if you will.

I never understood why Silvanus was sent to the maw at the end of wrath of the litch king she hadn't done anything irredeemable. It's my belief that the jailer used a lot of power to intercept her soul on its way to somewhere else and convinced her that it was his realm that she was destined for and thus gained a powerful servant.

It's because undead are always sent to the Maw regardless. Or rather, this was stated to be the reason, but was never really talked about in-game or really in any novel, just dev talk stuff if I recall. They either retconned it hard or it was another case of Stonetalon Garrosh.

I dont think Tyrande is in the Maw. I think she didnt go to the shadowlands at all. I think she got yoinked to whatever the domain of the sister of the Winter Queen, Elune, is called. We will either see her again in the Elune patch where it turns out she is dating the jailor or some nonsense like that, or when we go to visit that reality in another expansion.

I think the Winter Queen's sister is Eonar, not Elune. Why? Because the WQ calls Ysera her sister's pet; Eonar empowered Ysera as the Aspect of the Dream.

As for Eonar being a titan, yes, she is. The titans could be referred to as First Ones in the Shadowlands. We don't know yet. I just don't think we will see Elune yet, personally.The Winter Queen was very vague in the cinematic where her sister is concerned.
