I like how Alma was portrayed here as being very compassionate in his tone and his expressions. You could tell that even as he argued with Korihor, he showed no hatred for him, but instead had sorrow in Korihor's belief that there was no God, and what would become of him if he continued to deny it. It seems like most people, when they debate such topics, often turn heated and result in some very angry responses, which can turn hateful, vulgar, even violent, sooner or later. But here, Alma showed no such feelings, only grief for Korihor for allowing himself to be deceived by evil.

Did Korihor commit a sin of perdition? No, for Korihor had not seen God in the flesh. If he had, then yes he would be.

Mormons and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints claim that Jesus visited the Americas in 34AD. This would be after His ascension to Heaven, to be with the Father. In the Book of Mormon, it says "About 34 AD" under the chapter heading of 3 Nephi 11. 3 Nephi 11:8 specifically states that people in the Americas "saw" Jesus "descending out of Heaven". Meaning, He had already ascended to Heaven, before that. The Book of Mormon cross-references the word "descending" to Acts 1:9-11 (33AD), the very Bible verses and chapter that describes Jesus having ascended to Heaven, after His Resurrection, where we know the Father is also in Heaven. In the Bible, Hebrews 10:12-13 (68AD) says that Jesus made His sacrifice and then He sat down at the right hand of God, to remain there "till His enemies are made His footstool" (in the end, at His second coming, which hasn't happened yet). So, the Book of Mormon contradicts the Bible directly and clearly here, where Acts was said right before the ascension and Hebrews was said decades after. Acts and Hebrews are in harmony with one another, but not at all with the Mormon writings. Jesus ascended in 33 AD and the Book of Mormon makes it clear that Jesus visited the Americas after He ascended to Heaven. The Bible says once He goes to the Father, after His Resurrection, that He stays there, until the end of this age, until His 2nd coming. Therefore, Jesus never came back down to earth to visit anywhere. While there are several other contradictions with the Mormon church, this one situation is scriptural proof alone that the Book of Mormon, and therefore the religion of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, is not true as they claim, but rather, it is indeed false. (They also do not believe Jesus and the Holy Spirit of divine, only helpers to God, Titus 2:3, Acts 5:3-4) (They also believe we can become gods, but the Bible says there has never been a God before Him, there is none beside Him now, nor will there ever be, Isaiah 43:10 & 45:5.) Please lovingly share this with any Mormons you know and to any missionaries that visit you. It could draw them to our God and His Biblical truths that they need to learn of.

He willingly denied the Christ and preached against his doctrine, knowing full well that it was true. That's as wrong as you can get.

I'm guessing they didn't include much of what korihir said because his viewpoint actually makes more sense than any of the "prophets" in the book of mormon. The church doesn't want to people to start thinking logically and base their beliefs on evidence like korihor. They want people to just believe despite lack of evidence.

Do you liken your atheist neighbors to Korihor? Even though Korihor "always knew there was a God," one day he had a visitor "in the form of an angel" so he decided to convince people there was no God. What a reprehensible and unloving thing it would be to liken anyone you don't know with Korihor! Every time I have watched Mormons discuss Korihor, my faith in Mormons has diminished. And what hope have I of influencing Mormons to love their atheist neighbors, where Christ himself has failed so completely?

It sickens me that you think our savior Jesus Christ failed... if it wasn’t for his atonement the entire human race of this day and age would be going on the first flight to hell... and you know it. No not sicken, it saddens me that you think that way.

You're making a lot of presumptions. We don't judge everyone who doesn't believe in God in the same way as Korihor. Korihor willingly denied Christ in his doctrine, knowing full well but it was true. Most people who are atheists today do not know any better. I've met other good atheists who weren't like Korihor, and I've even had civil conversations with them. Korihor was someone who willingly lied and deceived many people, causing them to commit sin. As the Lord told Nephi in the beginning, it's better that one man perish, then entire nation dwindle and perish in unbelief.
