That got deep fast. Weirdly enough that story really made sense even though Nintendo didn't intentionally plan this. I guess Luigi's story is pretty interesting and he has come a long way, more so than any Mario character. You also didn't mention the Paper Mario games. At first he was just waiting at home while Mario became the hero but in TTYD he went on his own wild adventure separate from Mario that to this day we never really got to see and was mocked by his companions and Mario alike for his storytelling. However by Super Paper Mario he finally got to become a hero just like Mario and even got to scrap with Mario before saving the day.
