I really liked Baroš when he was playing for Liverpool, I even had a shirt with his name. Good memories, great player!

Great video. I loved Baros. I was 9 years old when he broke through at Liverpool, and he was so exciting in the first couple of years. He softened the blow of Michael Owen's exit in 2004, but never lived up to the hype from the Euros. But he always grafted for the team and he played his part in our Champions League run in 2004/5.

Man I just played with Czech Republic on Pes 6 and immediately got so many flashbacks from my childhood and the best era of football. I used to watch Milan Baros on Liverpool when i was a kid and thought that the guy was a different kind of footballer. I wish he had a more consistent career but the man had a great technique. Growing up in the mid to late 2000's was the best thing ever. So much nostalgia with this video.

I remember the Houllier years. I loved him but it was always kind of embarrassing that he would christen every signing 'The New..." Baros was the new Maradona. Cheyrou was the new Zidane, Diao was the new Vieira, Cisse was the new Henry 😖
@Rose_199114 ай бұрын
Baros was probably my club Villa's first big signing (2005) I experienced as a kid, but he never really hit the heights we all thought. Still I remember his debut for us very well, him scoring the winner against blackburn... & who can forget his 2 goals against blues that same season in the derby win

Tapped out around 100 seconds in when Houllier was described as “liking to play an attacking line-up with three strikers” as opposed to “a defensive style of play, often with an expensive centre-forward slapped on the left wing for some strange reason”.
@flashbackfootball1367 Жыл бұрын
Style of play and line-up aren't the same thing mate.

@@flashbackfootball1367 Yeah, but anyone who sat through the Houllier years will know that by the time Diouf arrived, "attacking" was a distant memory whichever way you package it.
@flashbackfootball1367 Жыл бұрын
Fair enough. I can't claim to be an expert on Houllier era Liverpool. Objectively, a starting 11 with Heskey, Owen and Baros/Djiouf, is an attacking one on paper. And why I brought it up in the video is because it meant that Baros saw more game time than expected.

Scored on his Villa debut, but sadly became one of the laziest players i ever witnessed on a pitch. Lost possession in the final third once against Newcastle and took a full 2 minutes to get up and casually jog back into position. The Carew swap really suited everyone.

The partnership with Owen had alot potential bt sadly he ddint get much minutes and owen left for madrid, bt under benitez he was isolated as lone striker most of the time under 4-5-1 or 5-4-1 formation
@dscwac396 Жыл бұрын
I think he was a really good support striker I would have like to seen him play on better teams honestly. Because after Liverpool I think he went to Ashton Villa and so on from there so he was a pretty good striker for Liverpool for those first couple of years cuz Liverpool didn't have the most technically brilliant team they were more defensively Stout and relied on counter with Rafa which was not his fault because that's the only way that team could win anything they just could not go offensively toe to toe with any team that was in the top three. He was injury prone also
