When I was 17 my Brother worked a large Dodge dealership in Albany, N.Y. I remember going there and drooling over a 4x4 Warlock! They had Lil Red Expresses and Top hands too! They also had brand new Custom Vans that were outsourced customs with the Porthole windows, custom interior and graphic paint jobs. I ended up getting a 77' Orange Macho 4x4 with a 440 V8 that would beat 350 Camaros and Novas! THAT was one hell of a Fun truck. Wish i still had it!

Oh, wow! Back c. 1978 I was walking down the street in the Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn one night, and saw this cool yellow 4x4 Dodge stepside. I thought it was so cool at the time (I was 16)...never saw another one like it, in real life or elsewhere. Then I see the thumbnail of this video! So nearly 50 years later, I now know what it was (Thought it was just a Dodge PU that the owner had customized). 4x4's were rare at that time- 'specially in NYC..Who'd have thunk I'd see such a rare vehicle?

For the Grand Cherokee the 5.2 (318) was the better more reliable option those 318's are bullet proof.. My sister had a 1994 Cherokee 4.0 and it needed a head gasket and other work while my parents Grand Cherokee 5.2 needed no work, they both kept them 10 - 12 years and over 240,000 miles.. The 5.2 ran perfect and smooth the 4.0 had a miss .. My parents were not easy on them either, my Dad loved to floor it a lot. My dad towed is 1967 Coronet Drag car with the Grand Cherokee.. My sister drove easy and that Cherokee was mint when she sold it..

Wild graphics were the thing back then for American manufacturers, then came celebrity and company endorsements as "Special Editions". Most of them offered nothing but appearances you couldn't get as a RPO. Dodge trucks were some of the wildest looking ones with AMC being right there with them. The 'van craze' got us some more and even the Pinto and Gremlin got into the game. It all started with the 'performance stripes' on muscle cars back in the 60's and continues (thankfully more subdued) with muscle cars today. Certain ones are rare and valuable to collectors, but they weren't seen that way back then so there aren't many original survivors now.
@aaroncone6778Ай бұрын
As a Dodge/Plymouth guy, I've seen some odd trim & option packages on car & truck lines. Most people speak of the Lil Red Express trucks, but what about it's low production "California only" Midnight express truck. Let's talk about the "Spirt of '76" edition trucks. How about the "Rod Hall or Walker Evans" edition trucks. There are a bunch of special trucks that Dodge trucks that go all the way back into the late '40's, like the "Spring Special" editions. Cool video BTW 👍

Omg Avenger. I had to work on a few of these. The worst was the rt. Engine would stall and refuse to start again until IT felt like it. Could be 5 minutes could be 5 days. Every single avenue to fix that was taken short of replacing the ECU which is what I recommended from the start. Worth mentioning is the fact that to change rear pads you HAD to remove brake line from caliper. It was almost touching the caliper bolt directly behind it. And the starter. Chrysler decided to wrap the starter in an octopus like mount that made itbso you couldn't even see the starter inside it. What a nightmare. I quadruple the repair guide estimates now to avoid having to fix them. 3.6l is just too much engine for that body. It also has the battery in the fender genuis
