'Black & White' may just be the most terrifying and yet inspiring albums ever made: 'Nice & Sleazy', 'Threatened' and 'Enough Time' are intimidating, eerie and yet paradoxically thrilling... Unique suite of songs from a band that was clearly on fire.
@TheGreatToucan5 жыл бұрын
Been listening while doing other things....this is a great choice, showing off some of the band's more obscure material which is not seen elsewhere. I just can't help repeating that this is the best band perhaps ever, certainly for a VERY long time. They are still ahead in so many aspects. Much of this music is 25 years old at the time this was recorded, and the audience is still heavily into it. So am I.

Great! but when they toured the album a few years later it was even better. They didn't even acknowledge the audience (in Inverness at least) until the album was finished. Then came the banter and a load of classic tracks. Have to say Baz is the perfect front man for the band.

Though not a stranglers purist, not even fan of the genre, i have to state that apart from the fact that Black and white is a mastrepiece, some line ups are destined to be intact!!! Event with 3/4ths being here with their immense talents(and yes, people seem to forget that jet black is a genius drummer), there is a link missing.... Still very enjoyable concert..

Good to see Jet Black behind his drum kit. Dave Greenfield got bald like me. He should have at least kept the mustache. Not a bad concert, but still not the same without Hugh Cornwell.
@Trotskyxx4 жыл бұрын
Depends which Hugh Cornwell era you're referring to. I agree with you regarding HC up to the mid-80s - a unique force of creativity. But after that, he seemed to be going through the motions (look at footage of the final ever 'original' Stranglers gig). I'd take Baz's musicianship and input over the abomination that was "10", the final 'original' Stranglers release.
@amedlen243 жыл бұрын

I remember been a young mod in 1979 at Wembley Finchley boys to my right at the front going mental to AC/DC. The stranglers came on and started doing tracks from the raven. Know one had heard them because the album only came out that day,Finchley boys where throwing things at them Hugh stopped the band. Went over to JJ said something JJ went to Jet and Hugh went to Dave the band started again with Tank.
