Lamont Coleman was born in Harlem USA, where he spent his entire brief life. The youngest of 3 boys that were brought up by a single mother in the 80s and 90s. It was a constant struggle balancing the temptations of the streets of New York in those times and the passion for rapping he’d fall in love with at 12 years old. He was given many nick names at the time, but the one he couldn’t stand was being called little L. Already the smallest in his group he didn’t want to be seen as that in the streets, so he went with Big L and the name became legendary. He Got caught up one too many times in the streets and it ended his promising life. By all accounts he was supposed to have been one of the biggest rappers of his generation and heir to the throne of New York MCs when Biggie Smalls Died. He introduced Jay-z to the radio world and the streets chose him to contend. He had Nas in complete fear, shaking in his boots thinking how could he compete. Everyone in one way or another believed in him unfortunately for these reasons things didn’t work out. Here are 3 reasons Big L’s Growth Was Stunted. R.I.P Big L. OUT NOW!!🎥 🎤 🎼 🔥

BIG L to me was the best RAPPER I've ever heard spit. No he didn't make great songs like Pac, Or a business man like Jay, But none of them rapped better than Big L. Do you agree?

Street struck and furious anger are classics, but you are right. I still respect his skill for spitting. Not alot of the greats can freestyle or rhyme like that. On the stretch and bobbito freestyle you can tell Jay z couldn't keep up with L....please do shyheim next 🙏

Big L was good but y’all overhyping him… He was nothing special… He could rap don’t get me wrong but he was lionize due to his early demise… Lord Finesse was way better than Big L just the facts… He was a good punchline rapper… But he lacked in several aspects of writing which is why his debut album was nothing special.

What you said in the opening about people talking nice about this guy when he did but they weren’t saying all this when he was living was the absolute truth. Mic drop moment in fact! I try not to judge anybody from where they came from but this is why I personally never messed with the streets because at the end of the day, at like you said, the streets don’t love you! But then again I didn’t grow up out there so I wouldn’t have any business out there no way. I know some people might get upset by this post, but what this man saying while reviewing this young man’s career is 100% the truth. If you ain’t from the streets, stay out of it! If you are but have the opportunity to get out, get out! If people wanna call you a sellout, let them. Why are you gonna settle for a short life when you could have a long successful life?! This young man’s life should not only serve as a testimony of what you could be, it should also serve as a warning.

Big L could've been on a level of Notorious BIG, but he didn't have a Puffy with him to craft beats/songs that the masses would enjoy. Bro u made a Stunted Growth about Big L and quoted a Nas sample about going to hell at 12 for snuffing Jesus… That’s about as egregious as crediting Jay-Z for The Dead Presidents hook that sampled Nas. Secondly, you’re spreading hearsay about his criminal exploits that you can’t substantiate. You’re tarnishing a revered person’s legacy for what??? You gotta do better homeboy, because people wanna support but you wild outta pocket for this one my g

He was only talking about how the song was opened (He probably should’ve explained it more) he knew that it was a Nas sample. And he clearly stated that some of the street stuff was hearsay. It was worth mentioning because “hearsay” can get you killed in the streets. Not being in the streets at all is how you avoid it was the point. He’s not supposed to “fanboy out” on a video like this just cause he’s a fan my guy. You put in as much detail as you possibly can and he did what most big budget documentaries do to fit in a way shorter time frame. This was excellently made.

@@jwdathefax377 Not for nothing, but if the production value was trash I wouldn’t be here in the first place. I stand on my comment, because it is my opinion. This section of KZbin is designated for peoples critiques, appreciation, or two cents. Choosing to express my dissatisfaction with certain points without insulting anyone is actually positive feedback. Again, it’s better to do your homework and get it right than to tarnish a real nigga.

@@simpdown1404 Take your own advice homie....you left out the part about this being an open format and your opinions aren’t above being critiqued by other opinions. You’re right about everything you said about “this section of KZbin” but it comes off as “Only MY opinion counts tho!” When someone disagrees with you. And it seems that all of you “Everyone is entitled to their own opinions” type of people on KZbin conveniently and consistently forget that part. Cause this isn’t the first time I’ve seen someone trying to hide their opinions behind being entitled to one. Come on! You HAD to know that this is how I would respond to a “It’s my opinion” type of comment. 😒 Lol And it’s only “tarnish” if he said something negative or untrue about him...he didn’t. He simply pointed out the rumors on the streets at the time and he acknowledged that they were rumors. Plus outside of that, it was full of compliments. That would be a pretty weird way of “tarnishing” a person don’t you think?

@@jwdathefax377 If my comments came off to you as other peoples opinions don’t count then I don’t know what to tell you, because I only stated how I felt about what I saw. You have every right to disagree, agree, or be indifferent to my views. My initial comment touched on points I disagreed with and chimed in on. Rumors and innuendos are part of life if you live long enough, but perpetuating them regarding someone who is no longer here to defend himself is not cool IMO. All of this third hand info is cool for the internet, but in the real world two hands might end up around somebody neck for talking reckless.
@jwdathefax377
@jwdathefax377 3 жыл бұрын
@@simpdown1404 No, I was talking about defending your initial comment with the fact that you have a right to your opinion as in if I don’t already know that and something is wrong with me giving mine. Otherwise that should’ve gone without saying. As far as Big L not being here to defend himself, well that’s my point. There’s nothing to defend. The narrator acknowledged that it was rumors. Rumors I’m sure that Big L heard of when he was alive. The narrator never said that the rumors were true. He was trying to point out that having those types of rumors about you floating around in the streets while you’re actively still in the streets is dangerous, especially when you’re trying to focus on your promising rap career. How you took it as a negative came off as “how dare you say anything negative about him! He was an angel!” And that’s just not how documentaries work. Plus he didn’t really say anything negative in the first place. You’re just taking it a different way than what he meant is what I’ve been trying to say.

The streets and my mother forced me to get tough, and I will always be proud of where I came from, but I took the first chance I got to get the fuck out of the hood. I later came back to visit like those streets had live for me, but the streets had no hugs for me. Just a bunch of dudes I left behind, and really weren’t happy for me.
