I really object to being forced to pay the licence fee to the BBC at 84 yrs,but I can’t bring myself to break the law.

To have a chaperone at each rehearsal for grown adults, shows how far they've sunk. Why can't they be alone, working, for hours ?! These are adults. The professionals should just blinking behave !

I watched the first 4 or 5 Strictlies and found the rehearsal segments very interesting, showing how a complete novice would be brought to a high standard over the successive weeks . Then it got very silly, families and children brought in as a surprise ,then outside filming in zoos etc .Without that part I lost interest . Perhaps if the cameras had stayed on at rehearsals it would not have got to this stage ,management would have seen regular recordings of the tuition.

Social homes should never have been sold off as all it’s done has enabled the people who bought cheap to sell them for huge profits ,and removed housing stock for those in need

The jury heard the whole case and came to the conclusion that Lucy was guilty .Doctors were concerned about her long before she was removed from the Unit and I can’t believe that was for no reason.

Juries, alas, can make mistakes. A notable recent such mistake was the case of Alan Malkinson, wrongly convicted of rape on flimsy evidence and foorced to serve 17 years because he refused to admit to a crime had not done. I recommend reading rache Aviv's article in the 'New Yorker' oin the issues you emntion.

Private schools are companies, not charities. The clue is in the word 'private', although Eton et al, call themselves 'public schools'. What a nonsense. Of course they should be taxed just like any other business. The railways and utility companies need to be taken back into public ownership: Thames Water is a classic example of a failed privatisation project. But there are so many more. Conservative Party policies over the years (and New Labour's) have failed to commit to public service. Everything has been sold off to shareholders and big business. Ted Heath accused Margaret Thatcher of 'selling the family silver'. He was right. She did it anyway. Even today, EDF, the electricity company is 40% owned by the French Government! Ooh, let's take back control! I seem to remember that phrase. However, everything is sold off. Even the rail companies in the UK are partially owned by numerous foreign Governments. Anyway Peter Hitchens, I guess you were frequently well-thrashed on the posterior during your private education. Value for money, I call that. However, love and peace.

I did read somewhere that the extremely wealthy parents are beating the VAT - which I understands comes into force from September 2025 - by paying up to five years worth of school fees up front.

When one talks about Labour ideology you may as well talk about Communist ideology - for they are closely related! Especially in their absolute hatred of "The Bourgeoisie". For example during the "revolution" under Mao Tse Tung in China, there is the illustrative case where a man was murdered by rampaging students with the approval of the regime because he owned "a settee and two matching chairs"! He was by this heinous misdeed deemed a capitalist and an enemy of the State! How long I wonder till Britain reaches such a state of government-induced anarchy under Starmer?
