When he messes up lyrics I love it because it always makes me think of the creative process behind all of it. I think of an interview he did a long time ago about how they record it so much over and over again that it starts like just sort of getting all mashed up in your brain and stops making sense. Like when you hear a word over and over again it stops making sense. You know Julian has several different versions of lyrics to any given song at any given point. I feel like if he just went with his “mistakes” sometimes it would be super cool to see what he comes up with just flowing with it.

I think it’s the simplicity of this song that makes the lyrics hard to remember. Because you could easily switch the lines around and because they mostly have the same syllables they can be sung in any order and still work. He probably switched them around a lot during writing too.

I love Julian, I love The Strokes, and I love this song and the album it came from. But it's so obvious Julian doesn't have the same appetite for The Strokes that he used to as he currently does for the Voidz. Compare this or any recent Strokes performances to the live performance he did of the Voidz song on Jimmy Fallon not long ago. It's like watching someone miserable and going through the motions in a failing marriage with the Strokes and the Voidz is his younger, more exciting mistress.
