with these demo, you can see how perfectionnist they were Julian had one of the best ideas of all time to put this filter/effect on his vocals, event hough he has a great voice

I actually liked the Red Album quite a bit (including the bonus songs in the deluxe edition) and Make Believe was interesting, but their latest offerings are not listenable... I think the hardest thing to overcome for Weezer was they connected so emotionally on their early stuff, and changed as they aged (as we all do). Eventually it seems like all bands have to create songs based on generalities, and it becomes less personal (except for a few, like maybe Bruce Springsteen).
